This is my favorite book, plus the musical is awesome. I may not take on the task of reading it again, but I'll join in the discussion for sure.

Yes - excellent! I will also probably not read it again at this time - but I look forward to discussion.

I am definitely planning on reading this with the group but I won't be able to start it right away. Have a few pending ones that I need to finish, which should be done by next week. Planning to start this one tentatively on the 10th. :)

Sounds great! Thanks for joining!

As some of you may notice, I created folders for each section. Since it is a large book, it will help keep discussions on certain plot points from getting lost in the shuffle.
General discussion will be in this thread.

I have loved the musical for years and had this book on my TBR for a long time. When I finally read it I was pleasantly surprised about how enjoyable this was to read - it did not feel like a 1500 page slog!
I read this one a few years back. I'll admit, my love affair began with the music (as played by my little sister's high school marching band). I love the movie adaptations, musical or otherwise. But, I was always hesitant to read the book.Once I finally did, I was immediately captivated. The story is so moving. I loved it.
Just wanted to check in - did anyone end up reading this now? Remember, the threads will stay up if you end up reading it in the future.
I look forward to discussing it, but read it a couple of years ago so remembering the specifics and when they happened in the book it tough. So, starting any discussion could be tough for me!
I may go back and look through my copy and see if I can find anything to start up chatter.
