380 Dany (view spoiler)[ I'm loving all the dragons (I mean the book is called Dance with Dragons) but I love how much of the main plot they have become, Dany is no longer the timid character that I liked, she is amazingly strong and definitely deserves the title Mother of Dragons (hide spoiler)]

505 Reek (view spoiler)[ Reek is such an oddly likable character. I like how he talks to himself about his siblings and his mother and how his name rhymes with things. (hide spoiler)]

585 The Prince of Winterfell: (view spoiler)[ I'm sad that we haven't met Reek before this book...It's also so crazy to me that Arya is 11!! 11 years old!! That's mad, the amount she's been through. (hide spoiler)]

I have this book in two parts so I just finished part one, that ending was quite serious! (view spoiler)[ Slaves????? What for??? Also, can we all talk about if Bran is dead or not?? He felt his blood leave his body??? NOT OKAY. He was promised he would fly, not die. (hide spoiler)]

Part 2 120 Jaime (view spoiler)[ ARYA CAN SEE? SHE SAW A CANDLE?? I am also very excited to get another Jaime chapter, I really like Jaime right now, book 4 made me really like his character. (hide spoiler)]

Part 2 337 Victarion (view spoiler)[ I truly thought that Martin had killed Theon and Jeyne off when they jumped! (hide spoiler)]

34%: (view spoiler)[ I really love the fact that we got Tyrion's POV as well. He is my favourite Lannister. I find him to always have those epic speeches. I love how much information we are getting about the dragons. They are truly the story of this book. I love how Dany transformed into the Mother of Dragons, all strong and brave. (hide spoiler)]

39%: (view spoiler)[ I love how Jon loves his half-siblings. I was sad at this part because he felt helpless and could help Arya from getting married. She is so young. Only 11 years old! I hope that she does not have to marry at this age. (hide spoiler)]

60%: (view spoiler)[ This just keeps getting better and better. I really like Reek. He is a new addition to the favourite GoT characters. He is such a hilarious man. There are some characters that I did not like that I am starting to like such as Davos. (hide spoiler)]

Ending Thoughts: (view spoiler)[ NOOOOOOOO!!! Not JON!!! He's my favourite. Stupid Wick!!! It is the season 5 finale all over again. Is he dead or is he alive? Well, now the tv show made up it's version, and now it is time to see what happens in the book series. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 30: (view spoiler)[ I love Dany. I know I brought that up a lot but even though so much is going on with her, she manages to stay level-headed and tries (or seems to try) to keep everything peaceful. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 40 (view spoiler)[ Ooo, fights, jousts... Stuff got REALLL. (hide spoiler)]

End (view spoiler)[ Wow, no one trusts each other in this book. Kind of makes it awesome because of that... (hide spoiler)]

Just started this too! After last night's episode, I need to go to back to simpler times haha!

Prologue, Chapters 1-2
(view spoiler)[So with the exception of book one, the prologues in these books kinda bore me. We're introduced to random characters to set the scene for the book and I just don't like them. However, I did really enjoy the prologue in this book, giving us insight into free folk warg who is trying to survive after running away when Mance Ryder was captured. It was fascinating to me somehow. Outside of Bran and Jon, we haven't really seen much of the warging explored, so that was nice.

TV Tyrion is taken a lot much seriously than Book Tyrion. Book Tyrion is the fool, even in his own POV and it makes me feel so sorry for him. I still wouldn't trust Illyrio though. Also, his chapter shows just how far he's come over the course of the books when he wants to just settle down with a wife and stop his 'whoring' days. It's crazy!

Chapters 3-5

(view spoiler)[I forgot how bitter and rude Stannis is. I know that a lot of people who have read this series love him and believe he's the rightful heir but my god, the dude needs to work on his people skills!

I still wouldn't trust Illyrio. I somehow doubt that Tyrion will end up making it to meet Daenerys..

Chapters 6-13

(view spoiler)[Can I just say how glad I am that Janos Slynt is dead? He was one of those guys in the ASOIAF world that I really hated, one of those self-entitled pricks that let the slightest power get to their heads. And even after he was sent to the wall, he still had that entitlement about him and thank God that Jon took his head off. Eff that guy.

Reek's chapter was gory and horrific. Opening with talking about him eating a live rat - ewww. And I love gore and over the top horror. But it just seemed too much!

Ash I have started this but I'm not far in yet. I'm planning to binge through it tomorrow!

What season does the start of this book start with? like 6 or 7? I've seen some spoilers online with all the outrage at season 8 but I really have no idea where in the seasons we are in the books.

Chapters 14-43

I feel so sorry for Penny. Another tragic character in a world full of tragic characters. But her life has been directly affected by the squabbling of the high born people. And I feel like she's not gonna get a good deal in the rest of the book.

I didn't like Daahrio in the TV show, but you can't deny he's got a hold on Dany in the books. I definitely don't want her marrying him but he'd be good to keep around on the side haha.

I think its like seasons 4, 5 and 6. The timeline in the books and the show are totally different though.

OMG so everything in season 8 was totally made up by the show writers and had nothing to do with the books?

Pretty much, although I think George RR Martin oversaw a lot of it.

I saw he was recently asked if the books will end the same way as the show and he said 'yes, and no'. So I'm hopeful for the future.. haha.

I didn't realize the books weren't done yet!! I thought they were. I wonder if its going to hurt his fan base any since the show has already come out

Chapter 8: (view spoiler)[ "Where do whores go?" I don't understand why Tyrion keeps asking everyone this. I can really feel Tyrion is kind of loosing it.. barely keeping it together here. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 13: (view spoiler)[ Bran's chapters are quickly becoming some of my favorites. I'm so intrigued by the skin walkers and I'm glad we are getting more into the whole magic of this world. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 44-63

(view spoiler)[Theon has never been a sympathetic character in my eyes, but I'm really starting to feel for him. The abuse he suffered at Ramsey's hands is horrific and the more chapters we have from him, the more we see into his mind and see how he has spent his whole life wanting to fit in and never really being accepted anywhere. Also, Ramsey is a monster and he needs to be destroyed.

I can't wait for Dany to come back and get rid of that man she married. Bad decision hun!

Love how Cersei is playing the victim card. She's also been one of my favourite characters and I think she's realised if she wants to survive, she has to give in and act like a weak person. We all know she's got some tricks up her non-existent sleeves. Girl is sneaky AF.

Chapters 64-69

(view spoiler)[Ooh that chapter when Cersei had to do her walk of shame was rough. I really felt for her. What a cruel punishment. I can't wait for her to get revenge on the Septas and the High Septon!

Ahhhhhhh Jon's been killed!!! I hope they resurrect him in the books like they did in the tv show!

Bah there is just no way I can finish in before the May deadline. Its my own fault I put it off too long and then got swamped with the flooding going on in my area. Ill finish this up but have to put it on Junes challenge. wa.. wa.. waaaaa.

Cersei is always blaming the fact that she is a woman on her failures in life.. notice this doesn't hold back other characters like Arya and Brienne.. (hide spoiler)]

Finished: This was painful to get through.. I can't believe that they finished the TV series without the books being done. I didn't realize that the books weren't done. I wonder when the next book is due to come out. Honestly, I feel like this book could get lost somewhere and never be missed. Nothing really happened. It was just full of filler.. But the important thing is.. Tiera, we finally finished our buddy read of the published books! Finally! We did it!!!

Lol right! Honestly your review helped me understand why there was almost no plot progression past book 4. I didn't realize this one was going on while book 4 was going on. This makes sense as to why nothing really moved forward.

Hi A, I will be starting this tomorrow hopefully. I’ll check back in with you. I have an ambitious plan of listening to one hour during weekdays and twice that on weekends. But since I mainly listen/read on weekends will see what happens.
