While the small aircraft used in this book certainly existed, I have my doubts about the secure telephone. I have not been able to find any information on the use of secure telephones prior to WWII. Those used during the war, so called scramblers, weren't very secure.

I have personal experience using secure telephones in the early 1980s and they were fairly ordinary look phones that were sitting on a large safe.
