Heidi Hello! I just joined Cosmos in You today. My name is Heidi and consciousness exploration is one of my hobbies. I was curious... what's everybody's favorite book on this topic? This group's bookshelf has some very good titles on it and I want to know more. I have a bunch of favorites, but one that I just recently read that I enjoyed a lot was A Brief Tour of Higher Consciousness by Itzhak Bentov.

I'm very pleased to meet all of you!

Hi Heidi and welcome to the group! I have never heard of that book and am excited to hear it. Would love for others to share their favorite reads as well!

I deleted my previous comment since I had misread the comments and what I said didn't entirely make sense.

Heidi - In case you didn't spot my reply to your review of that poor translation of the Tao Te Ching I'll just say I found it excellent and spot on.

As for a favourite book on consciousness it's difficult to pick one out. The Bhagavad Gita? A Course in Miracles? Something by Sri Ramana, Sadhguru or Rupert Spira? The Upanishads?

As long as it's an authentic expression of the Perennial philosophy it's likely to be good, but everyone has their own pathway through the literature. Just as long as it's not anything by a modern philosopher of mind.

I like the simplicity of the books by Rupert Spira. For instance, 'The Transparency of Things'
