How far are we reading today

I thought that this was a great book. It could really introduce younger kids into the topic of animal abuse by showing the perspective of the animal in a more light hearted way. If that makes any sense.

Loved this book. I liked how the writing was quick to read too. Glad it was picked for us to read it. So sad about the elephant. Glad it had a happy ending.

3 star read for me I finished last night. It was sad in my opinion. It took a while for me to get through the writing style since I don't really like books written in verse.

This is one of my fave books, so this was a re-read for me. I love the pictures and how it's not all sunshine and flowers, which surprised me the first time I read it, considering it was aimed for the younger crowd. I love Bob the dog as well. It's a fast and easy book to read, and I'm glad that I got to re-read it.

I love that there are so many levels that this book can be read on from a simple, quick and fun fast pace to slow and thought provoking. Found it sad and emotional and was more upset about what was going to happen to bob! Although I struggled to keep picking it up as it was so emotional, would definitely pick up again. Wish I had an illustrated copy though

Loved this book! I thought it was original and sweet and such a great children's book. I also didn't realize this was based on a true story! The real Ivan is in the Atlantic Zoo! Glad it all had a happy ending and the animals were rescued to a better place. I got all choked up at the end when the little girl came to see Ivan and just ahh. 5/5 adorable stars!

I read this in one sitting last night! It was so beautifully written and I had no idea it was based on a true story until the end. I was so happy with the ending, seeing him interact with other gorillas and I loved it when they showed Ivan Ruby through the tv. I will definitely be passing this book onto my daughter to read! 4/5 stars for me :)

very impressive

I thought this book was okay and liked it a lot more at the end but the beginning was just boring. I could see so many middle grade readers not following through with reading it because it doesn't draw you in enough at the beginning, which is sad because the ending is great. I gave it three stars.
