M. (mehwar) | 96 comments Hi! I am going to start from today, but you need to tell me which book you are reading. I intend to start with Fahrenheit 451 or American Psycho or Neverwhere, maybe you could match any book you are reading with them. Like authors nationality? Or that both books title start with the same letter (not sure if this is legit)? Or alternatively we could find similarities in plot? One last query though, I still don't understand if its possible for me to read 3 books, relate them with each other and still get extra points...I mean does this have to be totally co-operative?

message 3: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) Not too sure on the last question but I think they have to be a mix of mine and your books.

I'm going to be reading The Cauliflower A Novel by Nicola Barker and The Virgin Queen by Maureen Peters first. When I get home I can look up some facts and hopefully find some comparisons :)

M. (mehwar) | 96 comments Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman The Quiet American by Graham Greene

If you are going to read those, I'll be reading these, as the authors of all these books (Nicola Baker, Maureen Peters, Neil Gaiman and Graham Greene) are British and that is one easily found similarity :)

To answer Muhammad's question-- you can match books with yourself if you would like, but try not to ONLY do that.

Thanks :)

message 7: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) Ohh that sounds good. Do you want to group Nicola Baker, Maureen Peters and Graham Greene in a group of three? I have two Neil Gaiman books I can read next week and we could make a second group with his three books?

message 8: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) Oh, and hi! I realized I never even greeted you. Apologies! I didn't mean to be rude, just eager to get reading I guess. Haha!

Oh it's okay and sure! We can do that! Except I've started Neverwhere already and am almost halfway so I'll just finish it but we will put it in a boxset later :)

message 10: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) I shall start Coraline tonight and hopefully get to The Ocean at the End of the Lane in the middle of next week if that is okay :)

message 11: by M. (last edited May 14, 2016 10:27PM) (new)

M. (mehwar) | 96 comments I want to read The Ocean at the End of the Lane, we can buddy read that and that'll give us an extra point. I'll probably finish Neverwhere by today or tomorrow, then I have another Neil Gaiman book; Trigger Warning, short fictions and disturbances. After that we can read The Ocean at the End of Lane together. I'll request a thread for it when you tell me the starting date :)

message 12: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) Oh yay. That sounds good. We will have four books in that group then!! We are off to such a good start

message 13: by M. (new)

M. (mehwar) | 96 comments Yaas!

message 14: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) Hey, just wondering if you planned on reading any graphic novels? They only count for 1/3 of a point each, so you have to read 3 to make 1 full point, but you can then make a group with those 3. I only ask as I have to read a graphic novel for another challenge and have the first 4 Death Note intallemts so I can read and group all of them tonight in a few hours. That is, unless you wanted to read a graphic novel and we could group all of them together? Hope that makes sense.

I don't really read Graphic novels, but I can read comics (Super-hero comics) We can definitely group them all and group them in a box set saying all of them have art in them! :)
P.S. I just decided to make a kind of list which book's you'll read and which I will read to make things easier and avoid misunderstandings
You: The Cauliflower, The Ocean At the End of Lane, Death Note graphic novels
I: The Quiet American, Trigger Mortis, The Ocean At the End of Lane, Any 1/2 Super-Hero comic
Box-Sets: 1. Cauliflower, Virgin Queen, The Quiet American= All by British Authors
2. Caroline, Neverwhere, Ocean At the End of Lane x2=All Neil Gaiman books
3. Death Note series and 1/2 comic=All books contain arts
I think if we are able to do this by 22nd we would be cruising at a good rate :)

message 16: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) Yes, good thinking. I am going to read the first two tonight and I shall hopefully get to the other one tomorrow. We may even be able to have two groups of them :) These are my first graphic novels so I am excited and I am sure they will be quick reads.

message 17: by M. (new)

M. (mehwar) | 96 comments Cool :)

message 18: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) Just finishing off the second graphic novel and I will log them in a group then :) I also saw on you had The Hunger Games trilogy on your tbr. I am reading Mockingjay this month so whenever you read those that is another group we can make :)

message 19: by M. (new)

M. (mehwar) | 96 comments I finished writing the review for my second comic hahaha so, you can make 2 box sets. One for your graphic novels and the other for all the books with drawings :) Also yeah sure, that'll be cool if we make a boxset of Hunger Game trilogy. I actually read abridged version when I was a kid. Thought it was high time to read the real thing XP

I read them years ago so this is a reread and I am loving them just as much the second time around. Ahh awesome! We shall have two groups before the day is out then :)

message 21: by M. (new)

M. (mehwar) | 96 comments Can I group the two comics I read and say they all had Batman in them and create another box-set? o-o

message 22: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) I think the groups have to be a minimum of 3, I may be wrong, though

message 23: by M. (last edited May 16, 2016 06:02AM) (new)

M. (mehwar) | 96 comments I feel like reading another comic e.e kinda addicted now I think I might read another one

message 24: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) I feel you! I am in the mood for a series long binge read right now, haha. We could each make a group of 3, your Batman and my Death Note ones :)

message 25: by M. (new)

M. (mehwar) | 96 comments and make a third box-set of all the art books? Right?

message 26: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) Yes, and we can both include our graphic novels in there :)

message 27: by M. (new)

M. (mehwar) | 96 comments I am going to be reading the comic then :)

message 28: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) Ooopsy! Seems like all my other plans for the day just went out the window! Haha

message 29: by M. (new)

M. (mehwar) | 96 comments How jocular XD

message 30: by M. (new)

M. (mehwar) | 96 comments Ok, I am not reading the next comic you can put the 5 books together XD Sorry, I'd be a bit busy, so I'll just focus on reading Trigger Warning and then we can read The Ocean At the End ofLane together

message 31: by Dannii (new)

No worries at all. I have put 3 together (all Death Note) but I will read one more tonight and group it with your two as graphic novels/novels with art or something along those lines :)

I will finish The Cauliflower® by Nicola Barker tomorrow and be ready to start it any time after that :)

message 32: by M. (new)

M. (mehwar) | 96 comments Oh okayyy cool. I guess we'll start the Ocean at the end of lane the day after tomorrow and hopefully i'd have read Trigger Mortis by then. Geez! I have to read Quiet American too o_o.

message 33: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) I am more than happy to wait for The Ocean if you would rather :) I have lots of books I can get to instead.

message 34: by M. (new)

M. (mehwar) | 96 comments Oh thanks, I'll read Trigger Warning and Quiet American till then :)

message 35: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) No worries. I have finished The Cauliflower and am just starting Mo Hayder's The Treatment :)

M. (mehwar) | 96 comments OH MY GOD! That is so awesome! You are absolutely great and as far as I can see the plan is awesome however there is a slight problem which I realized quite late. Some books like Doors of perception are lesser than 150 pages but I will replace those books to fit the category. Anyway thanks a lot. Now we have a plan we can continue reading easily!

message 38: by M. (new)

M. (mehwar) | 96 comments Ok so do I just read any of the book next and you'll put them in a box-set yourself?

message 39: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) Muhammad wrote: "OH MY GOD! That is so awesome! You are absolutely great and as far as I can see the plan is awesome however there is a slight problem which I realized quite late. Some books like Doors of perceptio..."

No problem at all. My organizing OCD would not rest until I had them all written down, even if we changed them. haha. Once we have completed each challenge I can edit that post to keep track of them all then. I may add books occasionally if I need to do any for another challenge but I will try to add some that fit with our leftover books somehow. :)

message 40: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) Yeah, I can do them all if you want. And we won't need to read them in any order I shouldn't think :)

message 41: by M. (new)

M. (mehwar) | 96 comments Yeah same I reckon. I am trying to add a book to that one slot left and think if I can make any other boxset from my tbr shelf :D

message 42: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) Ahh fab, that is awesome :)

message 43: by M. (new)

M. (mehwar) | 96 comments About the books that were to be replaced, Politics and English Language will be replaced by The Catcher in the Rye. I'll be reading Modern Romance instead of Doors of Perception AND you can pair "Beowulf" with the other mythological books :)

message 44: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) Woohoo! That is great. I'll make the alterations now :)

message 45: by M. (new)

M. (mehwar) | 96 comments We need to kinda speed up, we are lagging behind... 0_0

message 46: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) I know! Argh. I have finished one book and almost finished two others. I will finish and write reviews for them all today and update them all then :)

message 47: by M. (new)

M. (mehwar) | 96 comments Cheerio!

message 48: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) I have updated message 36 to make it easier for us to track our books :) Hope it all looks okay and let me know if you want me to change or add anything.

message 49: by M. (new)

M. (mehwar) | 96 comments Ooh cool!

message 50: by M. (new)

M. (mehwar) | 96 comments God! We are kinda behind still! I mean I hope I freaking get at least 6 points on Canterbury Tales XD But we still need to be faster. I've been busy with writing these days so I am going to make up for it by reading now. We probably have the best box-set planning but we need to increase our speed. To be honest, you are doing a good job and this is more like a pep talk for myself but eh
