Please post your general questions about the Summer 2016 Challenge here. Specific questions about individual tasks should be posted in the Help Threads for those tasks.

Sorry if this has already been answered, but, do you have a preference for where to get genre verifications? Should we ask in the genre verification thread, or in the related tasks, or does it not matter? I look in both places for ideas when I'm struggling.

it doesn't matter. I'm normally online a lot, sometimes more than the task creators, so you may get a faster answer in the genre verification thread.

This isn't a general question. I was looking for a comments and socialization thread but there wasn't one. I wanted to let everyone know the show 500 questions starts tonight for are friends in the US at 7pm central time on whatever your ABC channel is. I am mentioning because I think it was a task for this challenge one season.

Each task has a help thread specifically for that task. Please ask about 15.4 (a) in the help thread for 15.4.

HI. I never did finish getting by spring books posted, and now I am half way through so many books, that I think thatI will play along on the side for summer and not really post anything at least until I get these finished up, because they won't count.
If I don't post at all I will be back in the fall!

Hey guys! Get ready for a noob question...

I see that there is the potential that tasks may change and won't be finalized until the 13th. Would you recommend we wait until then to post completions? I see people posting completions now, but I'm not sure what the implications might be should the tasks change.

If your book works for the task right now, go ahead and post. Changes in the tasks are not typically major - just tweaking, usually - and don't operate retroactively.

How long should we wait for a response from the task creator?

I asked A Question In the Help Thread on June 7 and there's been no response at all.

I've PMed the task creator several times in case she's not getting notifications. If I don't get a response back by tonight, I'll step in and answer any questions tomorrow.

Can I get confirmation I'm understanding the page count rule for ebooks correctly?

I'm looking specifically at Task 20.6 - OPTION 3: Read a book your choice that consists of at least 360 pages (a page for each minute of the series).

Am I understanding correctly that I can't use the following book for this task?

- Kindle edition=384 pages (meets task minimum)
- MMP=320 pages (doesn't meet task minimum)

So in this case, even though there is a MMP version, that one would have to meet the minimum requirement, correct? Just confirming I am reading that accurately. Thanks!

That is correct, if you read a digital edition you use the method to determine page numbers in the rules - starting with MMP sorted my number of ratings.

The MMP does not meet the page requirements for task 20.6 option 3

Another question related to using the MMP when reading an e-book or listening to the audio version.

The most popular MMP is: What Mrs. McGillicudy Saw! but it has NO pages numbers

Do I use the NEXT most popular MMP: 4:50 From Paddington

The specific task I'm using this for is NOT a task that requires specific pages numbers, other than the basic SRC guidelines.

Book Concierge, I added the page count on What Mrs. McGillicudy Saw! from Worldcat for that ISBN.

However, a moderator will need to answer the actual question of what to do in that circumstance.

Yes, you would use the next most popular MMP.

And/or you could ask a librarian if it would be possible to update the page numbers of the edition that was missing them.

From the rules:
One book between 80 -99 pages may be used for ONE 5 point task.

I have this book: Retratos De Carolina and the only genre that appears sometimes is "childrens", shelved by only one user and when I click to see who it is, it appears as nonexistent. So, should I consider it as Childrens or not? It's not on AR either.

If the childrens genre appears you must follow Book Formats rule #4.
If the book is not found in AR Bookfinder: Task 5.10 Note: Books with the genre "children" or "kids" NOT found in AR Bookfinder MAY be used for this task.

I was curious as to whether or not books needed to be read after the 50 point task was posted. Can we use books that we've read during the summer cycle that didn't fit into any other task? Or should books be completed after the task was posted? Thanks in advance!

I've messaged the task creator. However, please note that there is no need to have your book choices confirmed unless there is some real question about their suitability.
