yay! thx for picking up the gauntlet.
First, I thought to put it under the 'coup' thread -:), but since no coup happened, unless I misinterpret the significance of this event -:), I'd like to welcome Ann Arcane as a co-moderator of this group and thank her for rising to the challenge.I don't think she needs any additional introduction, as most of you probably know her and her style.
Best of luck!
@Mr Nik: ROFLMAO!! Who needs luck? Me? Or everyone else?? ^_~Seriously, though, it's my absolute pleasure and utmost honor. You and Miss Tara have been stupendous. And yes, I've been watching like a hawk. A creepy hawk...
Hugs,
Ann
Awww, thanks, Miss Marie! Here's some more love for ya: ♥♥♥
EDIT: And Miss Tara: ♥♥♥
Oh, heck! Here's some love for everyone: ♥♥♥♥♥♥
(This is when Mr Nik starts regretting his decision LMAO!!)
Nik's out getting some Belvedere for the welcome party lol. Guess I'll get started on the cookies :)
haaaa! That's me. I think I'm the only housewife I know who makes a drink for her hubby when he comes home in the evening. Okay, only in the summer. Okay, fine, only on Fridays...and if I'm not writing. Whatever, I rock.
Party sounds cool!Does anyone have a spare 400-500 feet yacht to avail for a party at Ibiza for a couple of weeks?

thx for picking up the gauntlet, XO, Awesome Ann.
btw, thx to the group founder, Nik, for his vision and tireless advocacy. we're up to 240 members but we are just as active as other groups with thousands of members.
there is also not very much fluff in those discussion threads and i'm learning a lot from bouncing ideas off of others and from their more advanced experience and varied backgrounds. and i'm not just learning about writing but also about other world viewpoints.
of course, with the incisive minds in this group, you'd better be ready to look at your own ideas, preconceptions and biases dispassionately or suffer the consequences.
Alex G wrote: "be ready to... suffer the consequences."With Annie-Katana you warning is really meaningful -:)
@Miss Tara: ♥♥♥@Mr Nik: Working on it, boss ^_~
@Mr Alex: OMG, for the longest time I thought XO was hugs & kisses. I was like, yeah, okay, that's a good nickname for me hahaha!!

Translation: Have balls of steel.

More like with the frank discussion we've been holding on race in America, it has the potential to go horribly wrong. It's nice that we can actually talk about it, but I don't envy the poor mod that has to walk the fine line between allowing genuine discussion and removing removing genuine racism and bigotry. (not saying I've seen the line crossed, though I've felt some of my words come off wrong at times and may seem to cross that line)
At any rate, congrats.
J.J. wrote: "(not saying I've seen the line crossed, though I've felt some of my words come off wrong at times and may seem to cross that line)"you opine in a logical fashion.
Annie wrote: "@Mr JJ: Racism and bigotry? Oh, I'll happily play the bad cop ^_~ Thank you, good sir!"
i support you w/o equivocation.
@Mr JJ: I totes forgot to say, I come off wrong all the darn time. I mean, shizz happens, eh? Here, take this: ♥
Hugs,
Ann
Annie wrote: "@Mr Alex: OMG, I totes forgot!! For you too: ♥"sorry, but i'm not into cutesy.
do you have an emoticon for a razor-sharp katana pressing on an adam's apple with blood seeping out of the paper-thin cut.

yes, boss. (^_^;)
It's our pride and pleasure to announce Alex G joining in as a moderator. We were courting him for a long time, but I guess anyone has hesitations -:)He's done so much for this group that his new status is merely a formal acknowledgement of what he's been doing all along.
So welcome, Alex, and best of luck!
We just cannot remain static when Mike replaces Rex and Gina moves up onto a vacated spot on the chart -:) Maybe we too can benefit from reinforcement? If anyone who's been an active member for some time feels potent to moderate a bit, please, PM Alex or me and we'll try to see whether it can work
Dear Friends, I'm glad and honored to announce that Graeme agreed to become a new moderator of this group! I'm sure you all know him and there is no need in any additional introduction. It would suffice if I mention that the thread reflecting his writing and marketing path is one of the most viewed here and his elaborate analytic approach and unique angles on various discussions often stand out.
I'm sure we'll all benefit from such a mighty reinforcement.
Congratulations and good luck!
A question for my fellow moderators, how do you want to handle 'inline swearing,' where the swear words are inside a quote attributed to another?
Graeme wrote: "A question for my fellow moderators, how do you want to handle 'inline swearing,' where the swear words are inside a quote attributed to another?"I think for the minors they will still remain swear words and thus shouldn't be allowed. BTW, don't know whether feasible we can consider going 'adult only' and adapting the Rules accordingly...
And while we are here, enthusiastic candidates for moderating this group are always welcome to tender their candidacy and we promise to be a little less rigorous in our scrutiny than when applying for a supreme justice position -:)

Congratulations to Tara for her courage and willingness to undertake the moderator's burden!
Does any else feels apt and potent to embrace the challenge?
We might benefit from another moderator, preferrably located in the US West Coast/Hawaii or Oceania for the best time zones coverage.
Is it lucrative to become one? Judge for yourself: no salary, some glory, lots of obligations -:) . But for someone actively present on the net anyway, it shouldn't be something extremely cumbersome and should be fun...
Pls, feel free to offer candidacy. Not sure we can accomodate many, but there is room for some-:)
