I read it a couple of weeks ago. It is a fairly slow book and is not one of my favorites of his. It's interesting in a lot of ways but it could have been shorter :)
I thought the pacing was about even all the way through. There are a lot of interesting things but for some reason this one always leaves me with a bit of an icky feeling. I can never put my finger on it either. It's not a horror book and I don't even really notice the gore. Except for the incident mentioned in the spoiler :) It's like it's high quality but I can't love it.

I'm currently about 20% in - Book 1; Part 3.
It moves a bit ... slowly .... Not what I would expect, but then again it is over 600 pgs long so pacing is relative I guess.
I'm finding it to be gross instead of frightening, but not so gruesome that I can't read through it. (Although there are at least two senses that might need trigger warnings (view spoiler)[In both, men are taken against their will by a supernatural woman. (hide spoiler)]).
Its a mixed bag, really, and my curiosity (especially relating to it being such a long book) is what's keeping me going.
