We voted to continue reading The Last Policeman trilogy.

I finally went back and finished the book last night - here is my review.

This is the last book in The Last Policeman trilogy. The first 7/8 ths of this book follow along like the earlier ones... former Detective Palace is on the hunt for his sister Nico. He has joined up with the crook/con man he met in the previous book. He gets a tip that his sister and her group, out on a crazy mission to save the world and divert the asteroid, are meeting at a deserted police station in Ohio.

(view spoiler)[ I really did not like the ending. Suddenly Jason appears and he is NOT Jason, but an FBI agent who has been supplying the group in order to "keep them busy"???? It just didn't ring true to me - and was an ending that was too pat. I also question the timeline - they arrive in Ohio with just a few days until the asteroid hits - and yet Palace seems to spend several days either traveling by bike, unconcious, or eating chicken. Hey - the world is ending in 3 days!! And when offered the opportunity to hole up in an underground bunker with food and water, and the slight chance of survival, he doesn't even condsider it. I really enjoyed this trilogy - right up until the last few chapters.

However, I loved the prologue. Returning to the peace of the Amish family, and his dog, to spend his last hour (S). (hide spoiler)]

I liked how it ended..the "ending" ending, with the Amish. I didn't like the third book as much as the previous two but at least it finished everything off (I meant storylines, not the planet, although I'm guessing that happened also).

I felt like Hank was a bit off his rocker by book three. I know he was a dedicated officer but collecting evidence when there is no one to process it on a planet that will be mostly gone soon, was he just going through the motions or was he just going crazy?
