message 2: by Julia (new)

Julia Professor Dyson sat in his chair, looking out at the currently empty seats. The windows were wide open, a gentle breeze filling the well-lit room. He smiled as he twirled his wand. This day would help make it this a perfect first class for his new students.

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

Bea hurried into the room and looked around. She was the first one there, great! She took up a seat at the very front of the room and set her textbook down. She then went into her bag and removed everything she might need. Quills, her wand, and more books.

message 4: by Julia (new)

Julia ((Lunerza, I posted in the tower instead of the classroom, so I'm going to go ahead and say they're fine.))

Rosalind scurried into the room, glancing curiously at Professor Dyson. She was curious about what he would be like. Rose glanced at Bea, and recognized her. They had been in the same compartment on the Hogwarts Express. Rose smiled and sat near her, whispering, "Hey,"

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

Bea bit her lip and muttered a quiet "Hello." She really wasn't the best at talking. She was better at studying, and sometimes being a know-it-all. But not really talking...

message 6: by Julia (new)

Julia ((I did Lunerza.))

Rose blushed. Maybe Bea didn't want her sitting next to her. "I-I I can move if you'd prefer..." she awkwardly offered. She glanced away, not really knowing what to do. She hand never been good at socializing herself. Rose was just naturally good-natured and likable.

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

((Thanks Julia.))

"Oh no! you're fine. I'm just not that good at socializing. I'm much better at talking with school and homework." That was one of the longest speeches she had ever said. Bea was slightly proud, but still...

message 8: by CJ (new)

CJ | 251 comments ((Yeah, I was wondering why we were all in the tower.))

Kit still sat in the back of the room. She'd been doodling on some parchment. James was over asking some other girl whether or not he was adorable. Wow. She really got involved in stupid arguments...

message 9: by mels (new)

mels (padmeskywalkers) ((XD I thought we were in the classroom... Guess you're the only smart one, CJ XD))

James was talking to Kalindo.

message 10: by Kellinger (new)

Kellinger (kelindo) Kelindo was staring at professor Dyson when she got interrupted by this ginger head kid. She remembers seeing him at the Grand Staricase with another girl; They were talking really loud and running through the stairs. Kelindo searched with her eyes to see if that girl was in that classroom too. There she was staring at them.

"This should be interesting"-Kelindo thought. She looked back at the boy in front of her, noticed his freckles around his nose, gave a little smirk, and just said "Yeah?"

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

Simon and Coralline rushed to class. They sat down. I hope we're not late..Coralline thought and pulled out her books. Simon just kept his head down and opened his book that he needed.

Alex came in not really caring if he was late or not. He sat down farthest away from everyone.

message 12: by Julia (new)

Julia Dyson sat down in front of the class, watching the last few students come in. He stood up and cleared his throat. "Class, if you do not already know, I am Professor Dyson. I am you Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher." Dyson smiled warmly at his new students, and walked out from around his desk, wand in hand. "I will be teaching you interesting and hard things this year, and I expect your fullest attention, as I do not want anyone getting hurt."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rosalind nodded to Bea, and sat down. She looked at Professor Dyson-he seemed alright. When he said that some things may be dangerous, she turned a bit pale. Rose knew that she had a strong stomach and could handle things, she just didn't know how hard these things would be. She held her wand, and twirled it in her fingers, nervously.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Adam sat in the back of class, smirking at Professor Dyson. He couldn't wait for some of the more dangerous spells and creatures. He would love to stun somebody, but he wasn't sure when he would actually get to learn that spell...

message 13: by mels (new)

mels (padmeskywalkers) He looked over at te teacher, disappointed. Dang. He'd been interrupted. "After class," he told Kalindo, then hurried back to his seat next to Kit.

message 14: by Kellinger (new)

Kellinger (kelindo) Kelindo just looked at James and then put all of her attention to the professor.

She was really excited to learn all kinds of dangerous things. Of course, she was going to concentrate in this class, she already knew that this one was going to be her favorite.

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

Alex smirked when he sat at his desk. He was going to enjoy this..

Coralline and Simon were paying very close attention even though Coralline never wanted to hurt someone unless it was in defence. Simon however, didn't even want to listen but did anyway.

message 16: by Julia (new)

Julia Professor Dyson looked around at his students and their different expressions. He smiled at them, and stood up straighter. "Alright, a very simple creature, that's not actually very dark, is a snail. Go ahead, giggle." Dyson paused for a moment, letting the children get out all of their giggles. "Accio." Dyson muttered, holding out his hand. A snail from his office flew into his hand. "This, this is a snail. Slightly larger than most of you Muggle-borns are used to. Can any of you tell me what they are commonly used for?" Dyson said.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rose listened to Professor Dyson, and when he stopped for a moment to let them laugh, her face reddened. To the question that he asked, she raised her hand. It flew into the air, and her face turned scarlet again. She was unsure if he would call on her or not, but it was worth a shot.
message 17: by mels (new)
mels (padmeskywalkers) A... Snail? How was that Dark Arts? James looks confused. What were they used for? Something to do with potions, probably... Although what that had to do with defence against the Dark Arts, he didn't know...
message 18: by Kellinger (new)
Kellinger (kelindo) Kelindo stared at the snail, she was looking at the color and details of it to make sure she knew the answer.
message 19: by Julia (last edited May 19, 2014 09:20AM) (new)
Julia Dyson smiled at the confused students, and turned towards Rosalind. "Rosalind Kennedy, correct? Of Ravenclaw?" he inquired from her, gesturing for her to proceed and answer his question.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Rosalind blushed, and said, "I go by Rose, sir. Um, snails are commonly used in Transfiguration to practice vanishing things. They are used because they lack a vertebrae, and are less challenging than a mouse."

message 20: by Kellinger (last edited May 19, 2014 09:26AM) (new)

Kellinger (kelindo) Ok, so she was correct. "Damn it! I should've talked"-She thought. Ok, whatever, then Kelindo looked at the professor, and smirked thinking where he was going with this. "This should be interesting"-She thought.

message 21: by Julia (new)

Julia Dyson looked at Kelindo, and raised an eyebrow. He changed his gaze back to Rose, and said, "Ten points to Ravenclaw. Now class, we shall not be working on the Vanishing charm, as that is for Transfiguration. I am merely introducing you to some... Creatures. As you may have already noticed, the grounds of Hogwarts is home to many ghosts. How do you distinct them from a wizard or witch to a dead one?"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rosalind blushed slightly, and glanced around the class. A girl looked like she had known the answer, but hey-she hadn't raised her hand. Rose shrugged at the girl, if she even saw her. She looked away, back at Professor Dyson, and, again, raised her hand.
message 22: by mels (new)
mels (padmeskywalkers) James slowly raised his hand. He was pretty sure he knew this one. Pretty sure. Not positive, of course, but what was life without a little risk?
message 23: by Julia (new)
Julia Dyson looked at the boy tentatively raising his hand. "James, correct? What is your last name and House, then tell me the answer." Dyson said, not unkindly. He leaned against the front of his desk looking out at his class.
message 24: by Kellinger (new)
Kellinger (kelindo) The difference between ghosts and living ones? Ok... Kelindo raised her hand.
message 25: by mels (new)
mels (padmeskywalkers) "James Bent, sir. Gryffindor. And, er... Well the difference between a ghost and a living wizard would be that ghosts are transparent, right? I mean, you can see right through them..."
message 26: by Kellinger (last edited May 19, 2014 09:58AM) (new)
Kellinger (kelindo) Kelindo looked at James like "Oh really?, that wasn't pretty obvious, was it?" She kept her hand raised. After all, "That wasn't enough information"-She thought.
message 27: by Julia (new)
Julia "Yes, you are quite right, but can anyone go more in depth? Kelindo, can you?" Dyson asked, adding, "Five points to Gryffindor." Dyson looked at the girl, knowing that his question was sort of a trick question, but his students needed to know the answer. The correct answer too.
message 28: by mels (new)
mels (padmeskywalkers) Yes! He was right! Well, sort of. He waited to see what he'd missed. He was happy that he'd at leads gotten part if it righty.
message 29: by Kellinger (new)
Kellinger (kelindo) "Yes, Professor"-She said. Ok, now she felt nervous, the looked the professor gave her was like I hope you tell me what I am looking for Sort of look. She blushed a bit and sat straight.
"Professor, Ghosts is the imprint of a departed soul left upon the earth. They are unable to have much physical influence. They are visible, and appear as a greyish-silver apparition of their former living selves or as James here said, transparent"- She gave James a little smile, then continued "They can also pass through objects without damaging themselves, but amazingly they create disturbances in water, fire and air. They also get very sensitive if asked how they died as you all might seen Nearly headless Nick reaction before"- She quickly smiled, but then got serious again. "Obviously ghost can't die because they are already death, but they can get petrified with a simple gaze of a Basilisk, furthermore, us wizards, are likely to become ghosts if we fear death"
message 30: by [deleted user] (new)
Emelie ran into the classroom.
"I'm so sorry, Professor!", she said and then hung her head and walked to an empty seat.
message 31: by Julia (last edited May 19, 2014 10:51AM) (new)
Julia Dyson nodded to the girl who had answered, replying, "Correct. What is you name though? And House, if you wouldn't mind?" He turned to the girl who had just ran in late, and asked, "Name and House, dear?" Dyson was stern yet kind to her, as she probably had gotten lost.
message 32: by [deleted user] (new)
"Emelie Sullivan, sir.", she answered looking down.
message 33: by Kellinger (last edited May 19, 2014 01:43PM) (new)
Kellinger (kelindo) ¨Kelly Blackmount, Professor Dyson, Gryffindor¨-Said Kelindo with a disapointed tone, maybe she didn´t reply as well as she thought.
message 34: by Julia (new)
Julia "Good Miss Blackmount, 10 points to Gryffindor!" Dyson said to her. He gave Kelly an approving smile, then turned to Emelie. "Miss Sullivan, what is you're house, dear?" he inquired, noticing that she did not say immediately.
message 35: by Kellinger (new)
Kellinger (kelindo) Kelindo smiled brightly at professor Dyson. Until now, you could see she was only after all an 11-year-old girl. She quickly changed her face expression and looked over Emelie, she frowned and wonder what was the drill with this girl, why she couldn´t just answer straight forwardly.
message 36: by [deleted user] (new)
((Everyone, I want class wrapped up in a couple hours at the latest. Attendance is due by Thursday as well as any grades taken.))
message 37: by [deleted user] (new)
((sorry))
Her face grew hot and she realised she forgot to say her house. She saw a girl look at her weirdly and she got even more embarrased.
"Ravenclaw, sir", she said, still blushing.
((Alright guys, Erza wanted class wrapped up soon, so let's do that. I'm gonna give you six hours, and then I'm gonna end it.))
message 39: by Julia (new)
Julia ((Okay!))
"I'm sorry young lady, but I must take five points from Ravenclaw. Try to be on time next class, okay?" Dyson turned to the rest of the class. He gestured to all of the students, and said, "By next class, I would like a paragraph on the differences between a ghost and a living human." Dyson smiled nicely to the students, hoping that they wouldn't mind the homework. It would be easy, after all.
Rosalind sighed quietly when the girl said that she was from Ravenclaw. Of course, Dyson had to take points away from her House because she was late. When the professor asked for a paragraph, her hand shot in the air. When Dyson called on her, she asked, "How long would you like this paragraph sir?"
"Good question Miss Kennedy?" Dyson said. She nodded at her name and blushed a bit too. "I want this paragraph to be at least eight sentences. That is not hard at all, if you put enough knowledge into it. But I do not expect any essays." Dyson pointedly looked at the Ravenclaw students, knowing that was their tendency.
((For attendance, can you all put your character's full name in parentheses and their House? Thank you.))
message 40: by Kellinger (new)
Kellinger (kelindo) ((Kelly Blackmount, Gryffindor))
Kelindo smiled at the professor. She thought he was right, that homework shouldn't be so hard. She raised her hand "professor, are we allowed to leave now?"-said sadly.
message 41: by CJ (new)
CJ | 251 comments ((Kitri Yonsiri Lotus, Hufflepuff.))
Kit wrote down the homework on a sheet of paper. So far, it was her only homework. And it would only take her about ten minutes to finish... She had free time on her hands... You know, as long as the teachers were consistent.
message 42: by Julia (new)
Julia "Yes Miss Blackmount. Class dismissed. Have a good day!" Dyson said, beaming down at his students. He walked over to his desk and picked up a piece of parchment and a quill. He dipped it in ink and began writing the students names. Kelly Blackmount, Gryffindor. Kitri Yonsiri Lotus, Hufflepuff. Rosalind Kennedy, Ravenclaw. Adam Fletcher, Slytherin. Dyson knew that with a tap of his wand, he could alphabetize the names and even classify their houses.
message 43: by [deleted user] (new)
((Emelie Zoe Sullivan, Ravenclaw))
message 44: by [deleted user] (new)
Emelie packed her bag and walked over to the other Ravenclaw girl, Rose.
"Hi, um, I'm sorry I lost points for Ravenclaw. I kinda saw you sigh before. I'm really sorry.", she apologised, blushing slightly.
message 45: by Julia (new)
Julia Rose glanced at the girl. "Oh, it's fine. I'm sure we'll gain them back. Don't worry about it..." she said, knowing that the girl felt bad. She picked up her books and put them in her bag. Rose stood up and faced the girl. "I don't think we've properly met, excuse me if we have. I'm Rose." she said, offering the girl her hand. They may as well become friends-they were from the same house after all.
message 46: by Kellinger (new)
Kellinger (kelindo) Kelindo grabbed her books, thought of the ghosts. She later on, swiftly left the class.
((Beatrice Elizabeth Well, Ravenclaw; Bella Janix Aidrian, Slytherin))
Bea grabbed her stuff and hurried out to start her work. There was no point in waiting until the last minute to do it.
Bella grabbed her stuff as well and walked slowly out of the classroom. There was plenty of time to do her homework. For now, she just wanted to have fun.
message 48: by [deleted user] (new)
Emelie looked up relieved and shook Rose's hand.
"I'm Emelie", she said.
message 49: by mels (new)
mels (padmeskywalkers) ((James Lucas Bent, Gryffindor.))
James copied the homework down. Dang it! It had been too good to hope that there would be no homework he supposed... And this wouldn't take long. Only an hour at the most...
message 50: by [deleted user] (new)
((Coralline Joy McKenzie, Simon Gabriel Nicholson and Alexander Michael Jones))
