Luna and Undyne had fled this way with the two humans. Luna was bawling, of course, but Undyne was trying to find another stick, as if she still somehow had the childish notion of capturing them in mind.
"Hey, are you still crying? It's nothing to be crying about. You're fine." Light tried to be patient, she really did. But when Luna was crying for 10 minutes straight, it started to get a little annoying. "Anyways," she sighed, "are you two okay? Luna, I know you probably aren't, but what about you, Undyne?"
"Howdjya know my name?!" Undyne insisted, splashing water with her legs. Luna was mostly just scared. She was a totally happy little bubble of light without fear hanging around her. But with humans... those who had dusted her parents... well.
"Hey, we got out though. We didnt have to hurt anybody. Nice kick Luna, that must have did the damage." He huffed. He noticed Undyne and Light looking at eachother. "Uh, theres a problem?"
((Oh my gosh I'm so sorry I could have sworn the name was said in the dialogue but NOPE just went through it all and no Undyne but I have a solution since Undyne is part of her world maybe? Or is this whole "she's from a different world and knows everything" getting out of hand? Because I'm really trying not to have her know things she shouldn't, but when she sorta knows them from before it's hard and I'm rambling so I'll stop now))Light froze. It dawned on her. She had said Undyne out of habit, since this child reminded her of Undyne, but she realized that this was Undyne, before she fell in the Core in her world and had to get ask of those robotic parts from Asgore. She must be younger here, Light thought. She realized that Undyne was still looking at her, so she made up the stupidest excuse on her mind. "Maaaaaaagic," she said, wiggling her fingers.
((In Storyshift, Undyne is Mettaton, and they had her fall into the Core to get the robotic parts to be like Mettaton. Parts of her body burned off, hence the need for robotic parts. And Asgore is Alphys. Just to clear up any misconceptions :) ))
((Why cant she know stuff? To be honest, it would be something to bring intresting topics to talk about on the road :) ))
Jembe checked his weaponry. It was all good.
Jembe checked his weaponry. It was all good.
She hesitated, frowning. "But you knew my name. I'm not portant enough for anyone to know my name!" she insisted. Luna seemed curious now.
((And while that is true, I don't want her to turn into someone who knows all the plot points before they happen :P Like, if you were RPing Star Wars and Luke tells everyone that he's related to Death Vader, but the OC is like "Oh, I knew that all along!" When they couldn't have known. Stuff like that.))Light sighed. "If you must know... I heard one of those other kids yell out your name. The dinosaur, was it? Since there wasn't anyone else running towards the 'suspicious monsters' except for you, I assumed that was you." Light was lying, of course. She never heard anything like that. But she had to say something, and that was the best she could think of on the spot.
Jembe listened causiously. There just happened to be a stick right next to him, along with another next to Light in plain sight.
Light wrinkled her nose in confusion. "What are you staring at?" she asked him. A splash drew her attention away from him. "Ah," she said, looking at Undyne. She had kicked her feet extremely hard, causing the water to splash in her face. She wiped off some water off her face.
He chuckled, throwing the stick in the air to give to Luna, then pointed out the stick for Undyne. "Now, werent you guys suppose to capture us..."
Undyne crossed her arms crossly. "You two are my prisoners, now, and I can turn you into the King and Queen! Then you can be properly adopted!"
If Light had been drinking water when that was said, she would have done a spit take. "Um, YEAH, I'll just be leaving now, don't really feel up to getting captured today, yeah, okay bye!" She took off only to trip over a rock, because that was a generic reaction and because the person writing this was too lazy to think of anything else. "Um, ouch," she said into the ground, her voice muffled. Then Undyne's words registered. "Wait... adopted?! And a king and queen?!" She sat up immediately. A king and queen?! Who was it then?!((Yeah... I was writing this when Ilsa replied... OOPS. Now is been edited to fit with what she replied))
"Okay, so you know where tye king and queen are? Then take us, as we are your sworn prisoners." He looked at Light, telling her to stand up. Did she get the hint, it was unknown.
"Nope, nope, nope, so much nope," she muttered under her breath as she stood up and brushed herself off. She completely missed the look he gave her, but was standing up anyways. "Fine then. Take us to this King and Queen. What are their names, by the way?"
"King Asgore and Queen Tauriel, with their son Asriel and adopted human, Chara!" Undyne announced proudly. "They love humans!"
"Ah, I see! King Asgore and Queen Toriel with Asriel and the human Cha..." her blood ran cold. "Wh-what?" Her breathing started to pick up into erratic patterns. She stared to piece things together. Locked in the Ruins King declares war Two dead They died Humans are enemies Cruel Hurt others Gone gone gone forever gone forever She clutched her heart, desperate for something that would calm herself. She tried to calm her breathing, but to no avail. Chara is kind they can't hurt or kill anyone Asriel can't die no this isn't right isn't right isn't right Tears formed at the corner of her eyes.
Luna touched Undyne's arm. "Chara scares me," she whispered, but Undyne really didn't seem to hear. Maybe that was why Luna was so upset when she found out they were humans!
Undyne beamed. "I see you're already in shock at your good fortune! The king has decided to be kind to the humans that fall down here, so once all seven are living happily here, they can free all monsters from this prison so we can live happily in the starlight, too!" Undyne had this rehearsed, didn't she? She was pleased to be responsible for catching two humans and serving as a guide to the palace. It would mean glory! Maybe then she could get Asgore to train her to be his noble warrior.

"Ok, then we shall get adopted!" He cheered. He went with everything Undyne said, trying to get to the king as fast as possible. "You'll be a hero!" He gave Undyne the stick next to them. "Light, come on, we have to- ... Light?"
Jembe lifted her to her feet. "Hey Undyne. You should were an eye patch. Impress the king ya know."
Jembe lifted her to her feet. "Hey Undyne. You should were an eye patch. Impress the king ya know."
Light let him lift her up without any protest. She was arguing within herself, and couldn't think. All she knew was that Chara was like Mettaton here. That Chara was probably evil here. She felt numb, emotionless, and followed the others without any argument. Was this a dream...? Maybe when the machine malfunctioned, she went into a coma or something. Because this didn't feel real. It felt like a nightmare, something that couldn't really happen.
Chara was kind. Chara wouldn't trick her into genocide. Chara... couldn't die. And then Asriel. Gosh, Asriel. Asriel would die too, wouldn't he? He would become Flowey and so much pain and hurt and... "Yeah," she deadpanned. "A... adopted. See the king and queen."
He placed his arm on Light's shoulder. "Hey, cheer up. Once we get to the king, we can go home." He spoke lightly, so the other two couldnt hear it.
Undyne tilted her head. "I dunno... I think I'll try one eventually, I suppose," she beamed, "But I think two eyes are usually better in a fight!"
Luna shuffled along awkwardly behind them.
Luna shuffled along awkwardly behind them.
"Well, your choice." He chuckled, following her. He didnt know what was next, walking with them. But the fate of the humans in the present counted on this.
"Yeah... home..." Light said quietly afterwards, repeating the words. They were nice. Home was where everything was okay and nothing bad happened to anyone and where everyone was kind and caring and Chara and Asriel wouldn't die and become evil. Home was nice. "Home," she repeated with more emotion in her voice, walking behind Jembe. One she got to Asgore, she could go home.
"But... From my knowledge... We are a bit into the past. For me anyways. We need to get there fast..." He sighed, walking behind little Undyne.
"Past," she said, the words not registering in her state. "The... past...?" she repeated, starting to form in her mind. "We're... in the past! I can still save them! I can save them!" She took off running. "We have to get to Asgore! Before it's too late!" Light didn't care if Jembe was confused. She could save them! Chara and Asriel wouldn't have to go through it! The kindest souls in the underground... no, the world... didn't deserve that fate, Light thought.
Jembe was shocked. 'She cant change the past! That could rupture my timeline!' He tapped Undyne's shoulder. "She's getting away! You should go get her!" Jembe began to run after her. "Light! Light stop! You dont know what your doing!"
"The... past? This is the present! Don't be stupid..." She darted after Light, though, and Undyne drew her stick. "I can hit her!"
Light kept running, yelling nonsense out to them. Things like don't stop me, they don't deserve this, and unfinished sentences. She had blocked everything else out of her mind, and only focused on one thing. She could save them. Think of what this timeline could be like, if she saved them. No one would be sad. Humans would be treated kindly. The king wouldn't have to kill anyone. She could... save them all.A voice within her told her that it was impossible, and that the future will refuse to change. But she ignored it. The future COULD change, and for the better.
She ran for what felt like forever. She ran and ran until she came to a familiar place.
The wishing room. She heard something familiar in one of the flowers. She bent down to listen. Once she heard it, she continued to the next one.
'Someday, I want to get us all out of here, and see the sun.'
'Hahaha!'
'Hey! You promised you wouldn't laugh!'
'Sorry, it's just funny...'
'That's my wish too.'
Light listened. That had to be proof. After all, those voices... She recognized them. That was proof. They were kind. They were just making a mistake... A huge mistake. And Light? She could only think of one thing. Of SAVING them.
((I've always had a headcannon that it's Chara and Asriel saying that, but since it hasn't been confirmed by Toby Fox, I can change that if you want.))
((Dont have a problem with it. I like the fact that you added that acually!))
Jembe came up from behind her and placed his hand over her mouth, but not vcovering her nose so she could breath.
"Look, you cant change the past... You could dramaticly change the future into ways that you wouldnt want to happen," He spoke quietly, talking before the kids arrived. "I dont know what you think you'll get out of this... but, if you do what your about to do... You kill millions of humans... and I wont stand for that! I will kill you where you stand if you go in there and disrupt the past. This is clearly not you world, so fixing this could make this life permenent... Back off Light, I will get you home, I make that a promise on my life." He let go off her. She should have clamed down by then.

"You... you couldn't say that... not if you... you knew. Do you think I WANT my best friends to die?! I... I can't let Chara die! I can't! If... if I let them go through with this... don't you see?! There's a chance all monsters will die! I... I wouldn't be able to live with myself... if I let them die. If I let Chara..." She slumped down. She KNEW Jembe was right. What if she changed it for the worse? This wasn't her world, she couldn't do whatever she wanted with it... but...She muttered something under her breath that started to echo.
I know you're right... but I can't just watch them die.
Die.
Die.
Die.
The words echoed as other echo flowers picked up on it, and she didn't care if he heard them. She curled up into a ball and started to cry. They weren't childish cries that toddlers make when they were throwing a tantrum. No, they were silent, gut wrenching cries that made her worry about breaking a rib. "I can't see them like that," she said in between the sobs. "I can't see them... doing genocide, murderous, and... soulless..." Everything poured on her at once, and she wanted to get rid of these feelings.
He placed his hand on her back. "Light, this isnt the Chara that you know and love. Even if you can't see them die, you know that they are still alive in your world. If they kill, you know thats not the Chara in your world. I will help you get back to your world, but... I made a promise to the "king of the surface." He will get his promise. You dont have to watch them die, we just need to get to the present. So, we shall await for our young capters." He sighed, hoping no attention was brought to them.
The two youngsters were running up as they spoke, Luna carrying Undyne. "You haveta stay with me!" Undyne protested.
"We waited for you! Nows your time to shine! Introduce use to the king!" He exclaimed. His acting was good, but he needed to ask something of the king 20 years into thepresebt from the past. They had no right being in the past.
Light's sobs slowed as she listened to Jembe and realized that he was right. This Chara wasn't the same Chara. And this Asriel wasn't the same Asriel she knew. "I..." she began, her voice sore from crying. "Thank you, Jembe..." She wanted to say more, but she stopped herself when she heard Undyne and Luna. She immediately sat up straight and tried to clear out some of the puffiness from her eyes. "Sorry, Undyne! Yeah, take us to the king!" She said, half heartedly trying to put happiness in her words. She sniffed a little.
That totally justified letting them die! But the children were ignorant. Undyne was particularly upset. "You really have to stay with me! Otherwise Asgore won't want me..."
Seeing how upset Undyne was, Light smiled sadly and put a hand on her head. "Don't worry! He'll want you no matter what. But we'll stay with you from now on.""Okay?"
"We will stay..." He lied, yet it was hard to notice. The possible out come was that Ligjt and Jembe would jump 20 years into the present. Undyne and Luna might not even remember these two.
"After you." Jembe proceded, following Undyne.
"After you." Jembe proceded, following Undyne.
((Oh yeah, do only 20 years pass in between the time Chara and Asriel die and the 6 humans fall? I've always imagined it to be much longer, at least 100 years))
Undyne grabbed Jembe's hand, dragging him foreward. Lunna obeyed, following behind, guarding their prisoners.
((True, but at the beginning, it seems to be a legend. What if what happens is that whenever a reset happens, or a save file is loaded, it only affects the underground? Just a thought I just had. It would like up with why it seemed to be a legend, but why everyone ages normally.))
