Review Group discussion

This is a general group. In joining this group you have agreed TO REVIEW ANY four ALLOCATED novellas (under 45,000 words) within the set 8 week limit. You will receive four reviews.
There is no genre filtering.

If you are only willing to review your own preferred genres then sorry, but you’re better off finding a group that specialises in your preference, or joining one of the 18+ rounds or a ‘clean’ review round. In this general group you might be asked to review fiction/non-fiction, adults’/children’s books, a religious text, BDSM, or anything in between. Allocation is entirely random and there will NOT be any rearranging of the listing to accommodate genre preference. The ONLY circumstance in which you may duck out of giving a review is if YOU provide a stand-in reviewer.

Let’s be honest here – we don’t all like the same things but we all want reviews. Please consider each book as an example of its genre and length. A novella or short story is not going to have the same length/complexity of story/character arc as a full length novel. The only way this group can function is if we trust each other to behave honourably. And it IS perfectly possible to give a fair-minded review of a text that does not coincide with our normal choice of reading matter. If you need a few hints/tips, please see this thread:

Do not sign up until you have completed all your reviews in another review round in the group.

Make sure you have an author profile set up before you join and that your book is available for sale on amazon (not pre-0rder).

Please let me know as you sign up if you have been reviewed by, or have reviewed another author in the group. It is permissible to review an author more than once if a different book is available, but reciprocal reviews within the group are strictly prohibited.

No problem, Emma! I checked to see if I was on 11's list, and didn't see my name, so wasn't sure if Red Claw had been accepted or not. Prefer the novella group since Xander's series is the most popular one.

Hi Emma! Sorry, I missed the 45K maximum--I'm used to the novella definition of anything under 60K, and while Augment's only 54K, it's definitely longer than your limit. I'll have to back out. :)

According to the great god Wikipedia, the 45,000 definition is actually a little on the generous side.

Authors have to be able to provide free review copies. This is a non-reciprocal arrangement, the people who you review, will not be on your review list.
Some members review via KU, which does not provide a 'verified' review, but if you wish to gift copies to your reviewers, that is your prerogative.

As we're getting close to filling this group can I ask that all authors check they are set to receive private messages. This can be accessed through your account settings. We encourage using the PM system for authors to exchange email addresses when sending and receiving books. If an email address is posted on a thread it can be viewed by anyone, including non-members of the group and automated spammers. You can switch the facility off once all books have been sent and received.

I see that my name is in the General Group not in this one and that's fine. However, I understand that this group needs only one member and can start on reviews while the other still needs five. I am pretty sure I can finish at least a review until the other group is on and going. Of course, is up to you, Emma. Let me know.
