Day 6- Why the 52 Book Pickup Challenge?

I'm here because I have a tendency to acquire more books than I end up reading. This challenge, alongside some encouragement from friends with similar reading lists, is helping me to ascend Mount To-Be-Read, as well as go back and sample some titles I feel like I missed or should have been assigned in school. For instance, thanks to this challenge, I finally know why it's a sin To Kill a Mockingbird. :-)
I'm competitive! I like to see the number of books I read go up each year - and tend to read a lot more than 52 - but I love logging and talking about what I'm reading and finding like minded people!
I like to keep track of what I've read, and how many books I've read in a year. And I love talking about what I'm reading and finding out what other people have read.

I could say I'm here because it's my job, but that's not true. I participated before this became my job. I love having a place to talk about books and find new reads. I'm also a bit competitive so I like having some sort of reading challenge every year. This whole experience has been a lot of fun for me and I greatly enjoy every minute of it.
Let us know your reasons why!
