I also suggest This Perfect Day, by Ira Levin. It's about a futuristic dystopian society in which all aspects of people's lives are controlled by a computer, and they're drugged to keep them compliant and safe. Here's the page: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/8...Just a suggestion for the pool! We Have Always Lived in the Castle is fairly short suspense book but it gripped me from page one.
Would anyone want to read Girl on a Train? Maybe we could all go see the movie too? I think it comes out in the next month or two...
I'm recommending the latest Salman Rushdie book. It's been out for a few months and I haven't gotten around to it yet. I loved The Satanic Verses, so I want to see what this one is like. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
Saw the name of your group and just HAD to stop by to mention Jass Richards' A Philosopher, a Psychologist, and an Extraterrestrial Walk into a Chocolate Bar!A Philosopher, a Psychologist, and an Extraterrestrial Walk into a Chocolate Bar

Please make some suggestions for a contemporary book for our September book club.
I'll start with two that are releasing later this year:
Suggestion Number One: Truly Madly Guilty, by Liane Moriarty
This book, which will be published July 26, is going to be one of the biggest books of the year. If you've read any of Liane Moriarty's books, you'll know why.

Suggestion Number Two: American Heiress: The Wild Saga of the Kidnapping, Crimes and Trial of Patty Hearst, by Jeffrey Toobin
This book, which will be published August 2, is nonfiction, but I think it would be fascinating.
