Marcia | 4 comments juvenile chapter book, possibly considered "girls" fiction. Group of friends go away for a summer vacation. There is an orchard, a house with lovely bedrooms (I recall a description of the furniture), a tree house, an adventure with gypsies. Possibly a mystery. I seem to recall a fairy ring in the story somewhere. I read this in junior high school so the year would have been prior to 1967. I believe the book was older than that.

Are you looking for a specific book Marcia, or just books that are similar?

Teri-K | 305 comments Possibly a book by Catherine Woolley? She wrote a number of well known series for girls around that time. Her books often had detailed descriptions of the places where they stayed and an element of mystery.

Ginnie and Geneva is the first in that series, and the two girls often vacation together.

Emily | 140 comments Luck of Lowry is an older book for girls that features gypsies -- I don't recall a tree house or fairy ring though.

How old are the girls in the story?

Rainbowheart | 28726 comments Not any of the books suggested so far?

Gypsies sound like an unusual thing to put in a kids' book set in the USA.
