I think this will be my next read, but I'll probably rotate between it and a few other library books.

Day One

Tariq (view spoiler)[He may have been trying to join a gang, but I don't think he deserved this at all. He was just trying to bring food home to his family, and he hadn't stolen it. (hide spoiler)]

the gun (view spoiler)[It's interesting how so many people mistook a Snickers bar for a gun, and it's how sad how they'll use that to try to justify Tariq's death. (hide spoiler)]

Brian (view spoiler)[I bet he'll feel bad when he realizes that he stopped Tariq because he thought he was stealing, when really the store owner was trying to give Tariq his change back. (hide spoiler)]

Day Two

Reverend (view spoiler)[I like how he's at least realizing that he's using someone else's tragedy to his own advantage. He seems to be aware that it's wrong. (hide spoiler)]

Tyrell (view spoiler)[I feel bad because he lost his friend and his dad's response was, "you shouldn't hang out with a kid like him." (hide spoiler)]

Steve (view spoiler)[What he said about presentation is sad since it's too bad that you have to dress a certain way to avoid being shot if you're black. (hide spoiler)]

Tariq (view spoiler)[I like how he's not all good, but it's still clear that what happened to him was wrong. You don't have to be a perfect person to deserve to not be shot. (hide spoiler)]

OMG I didn't realize today was our start date. I'll get on it tomorrow.

Day Three

Edwin (view spoiler)[It's awful that he feels guilty for trying to give Tariq his change back, because someone mistook it for a robbery instead. (hide spoiler)]

Day Four

I think it's good so far. It's interesting to see all the different perspectives.

I hope to read some of it today. It's such a beautiful day here on the coast in Depoe Bay, Oregon. Absolutely breathtaking and peaceful...other than the loud seagulls. LOL

It sounds like a nice trip. I really love going to the beach, though seagulls can be annoying.

I think I'm going to stop this one for now, since I haven't read it for the past couple of days, and I'm not really feeling compelled to pick it back up again. I don't think it's a bad book, but it's just different with the 17 perspectives, and not really what I'm in the mood for right now.

Okay Katie. Not sure if I'll read it now then.

Yeah, I think it's an important topic in the book, but I wasn't as into the style and execution, so if you're busy with a lot of other books, I'd recommend not reading it now.
