‘Outlander’ season 3 spoilers: What to expect as actor Sam Heughan hints at 'entirely different show'http://en.yibada.com/articles/144925/...
I'm guessing what they mean by an 'entirely different show' isn't that it will deviate so much from the book, as that it will feel different due to a good portion of it taking place on a ship. They said the same thing about season 2, and while there are differences from the book, it was more that the look and feel of the show changed when they were in France.
I'm not sure whether this thread is a general discussion on the series alone or the books as well, but I just wanted to report that I finished the audible journey through all eight books...and then started all over again. Davina Porter's narration is just lovely; having her voice in my ear while I walk is like hearing the voice of an old friend. In between, I reread favorite parts of the books. It's a very satisfying way to get through Droughtlander; I highly recommend it.
This specific thread was for the TV series because it's title is Outlander on Starz. That being said, it is OK to crossover and discuss the books (we all do) as long as there are no spoilers to up coming shows. I love Davina Porter she is phenomenal! I have a hard time listening to things the first time because I easily get visually distracted and my mind can wander. It is great when driving but I have a 3 min. walk to work so I really do not drive much. I plan on listening to some things while I take a morning walk once my schedule changes in the fall. Outlander is always a great choice for that :)
I'm the same way with hearing things the first time. I had read all the books first, then listened to Davina, whereupon I realized that I have a tendency to skim parts that aren't as gripping and therefore miss important details when I read. Then I realized that I miss things when I hear them, too! So listening again is just as great as the first time, lol.
You're not Sharon. I started listening to Dragonfly and only made it through a few chapters. Her Scottish accents bothered me a lot, and I'm not just saying that because I'm a native Scot. I found it especially difficult when she spoke as Roger for some reason.
Maybe it's better not to be a native Scot, as we who are not have to take the accents on trust. I kind of get it, though, as I had a bit of a problem with Bri's "American" accent. Just have to go with the flow...that's the Canadian in me, lol
I've not heard her husband speak, but if you listen to her his accent, whatever region it is, doesn't seem to have rubbed off on her at all. I don't know where she's lived but I feel like anybody would have to spend a long time here to get the dialects spot on. There are ones (e.g. Aberdeen area) that I can't even do!
I think the actors do pretty well though. Maybe not Murtagh sometimes but he's brilliant so I can let it slide.
I'm still watching Season 2 (having only discovered a few weeks ago that I can watch for free on demand thru Time Warner cable) and I've got two more episodes...I'm already mourning the ending of the season and the drought to come. Will probably just re-watch Season 1 a few times....ok, I admit I will probably just re-watch the Wedding episode a few dozen more times!!! Canna wait for Season 3.

As someone from Aberdeen that made me laugh
Monica wrote: "I am ashamed to admit how many times I've watched the wedding episode. Glad to know I have company!"Don't be ashamed, hun. I've lost track in the number of time I've watched it, lol.
Funny -- starting to discuss S3 but tonite I was bored and was missing Outlander so I pulled up the first episode from S1 Sassanach and enjoyed it tremendously. I forgot how good it was and it was fun to see it all over again from the beginning particularly Tobias in both roles

I know the feeling. I talked my daughter into binge watching the series from the beginning, and it's been so much fun to experience it with her for the first time; like introducing old friends of whom you are extremely fond, enjoying their exploits through fresh eyes.
I don't know where she's lived but I fee..."Haha! I'm from Dundee area and had a uni friend from Peterhead. When she spoke on the phone to her parents it was a massive change, no way could I do it justice.

Oh G-d, me too. It's one of my favorites!
I've watched the whole thing, from Sassenach to DIA the end of season 2 so often, I can't even tell you. Sometimes when I'm working, I have an episode running - instead of music or whatever - to keep the left side of my brain occupied while the right side works.
I just want to say that I feel somewhat guilty looking at the pictures of Season 3 being taped that have been posted online - lots of pics of the battlefield and bloody Jamie. It's like peeking at your birthday presents before your birthday! But sooo hard to resist. I kind of want to just wait and be surprised when I actual watch it.
I have been able to resist well this time around. I want to experience each moment as it comes. I have also been that way with DG's daily lines for the next book. Maybe my patience and will power have matured :)
All - saw the first article on John Grey being cast. Said to be David Berry. Don't know how reliable it is but something to talk about.

I hope he grows his hair long enough to not need a wig. I find some of the long-hair wigs on the men kind of weird and distracting.

Seems to be a fact. Starz announced. I think he looks a little like Sam Heughan.
Maybe I just seeing chiseled features. People will complain that the actor is too tall for John Grey, as they did with Cait.
I think he is great. Maybe because he is an Aussie. :)He is in 'A Place to Call Home' a great show here in Aus set in the 1950s where interestingly he also plays a secretly gay man in a time with zero tolerance. Cant wait to see him bring LJG to life
Sandy wrote: "Monica wrote: "Nicole wrote: "Monica wrote: "I am ashamed to admit how many times I've watched the wedding episode. Glad to know I have company!"Monica. Don't be ashamed. You're in good company. I read that scene in the book over and over in the book,, then watched the Wedding show 5 or 6 times too!
I haven't watched any of the series yet. I'm kind of hoping for the dvds for Christmas. I have a question. Are the LJG books going to be part of the show (maybe season 4)?
No, I asked DG on Facebook and she said it hadn't been discussed. I said that I felt it important enough, maybe a mini-series or movie or something to help. But don't expect anything.
Do you think it's enough material for a movie or mini series by itself? I guess they think LJG isn't important enough to do his books.
i would guess that when DG sold the TV rights to Outlander, that the LJG books weren't included - so Ron Moore may not be able to include them in his story ARC's for the series
Love it! Joe is almost exactly how I pictured him in my mind. Young Ian is one of my favorite characters especially as he grows older. I hope he ages well for the show because I just know it will keep being renewed. With young boys they can make those changes so quickly and really spurt up in a short period of time.
Our blog, A Kiss At Midnight Reviews has a lot of feels about season 3 and what we want to see and what we expect. What do you guys want to see https://kissatmidnight.wordpress.com/...

God he is the perfect Fergus in looks let us hope he can act as well. I have faith they pick the perfect Fergus.
Here's a page that has a video of him giving an interview, so you can see him speaking/emoting. I like that he's French, and not an actor playing French. http://www.hypable.com/outlander-cast...
