Until there was nothing left.



And he was mine once again.

Did you get to the part about me?

My mind was a hurricane. Nothing could bring me out of the dark abyss. So I just sat in the corner of the room, by the wall, staring at the ground with a smile on my face.


"Hatter? HATTER!"

"What's wrong with her?!"

"Don't ask me! How should I know what's going on in that thing she calls a brain?!"

"Hey. Don't be mean."

"I'm just stating a fact. Her mind is something else..."

The smile left my face as my thoughts shifted to darker subjects. I held my head in my hands as I rocked back and forth.

"Help me get her up."

"Why can't we just leave her there? Surely we can go and mess the guy up a bit first then come back."

"We're her friends. We can't leave her like this. She obviously needs us."

Who were these people?
Hands clamped onto my body and suddenly I was lifted off the ground. I pulled myself out of my thoughts, just a little, and could make out a concerned face staring down at me. A name drifted into my mind. Gnome...or was it X?
I turned my head and saw two more concerned faces. Maple? Phoenix? What were they doing here? I laughed.

"She's lost her marbles!" The voice sounded like Phoenix.

I saw Maple open her mouth. "Newsflash, dude, she lost them a long time ago. You know she couldn't help it." I heard her pause. "Wait. Since when does she have wings?"

I heard Phoenix growl. "Since she met him."

X clenched his jaw. "You know that she can hear you both, right?!"

My head fell back and a sleepy smile appeared on my face.

"How could he do this to her?" Maple's voice sounded angry.

"He's a dirt-bag, that's why!" I tried not to flinch at Phoenix's angry words.

X tightened his hold on me as he felt me slipping out of his arms. "This has been happening for a while. We just haven't noticed until now. We should have gotten her out of here a long time ago...before he drove her mad."

I could hear Phoenix crack his knuckles. "He's going to pay for what he did."

Maple laughed without amusement. "How do you expect to fight against madness? He's everywhere and nowhere at the same time!"

X sighed. "I guess we'll have to find a way."
