Bethany | 40 comments I don't remember much about the book, but I hope the small details can be recognized by someone. The story takes place in Cornwall. The heroine owns either a flower shop or a nursery. She is hired by the hero to fill his house with flowers. They end up falling in love and the hero wishes to marry the heroine but she is not able to marry him. She is married to another man whom she ran away from, she ended up in Cornwall to hide from him. Towards the end we find out that the heroine's husband actually died a couple years back.

Bethany, please add some plot details to your header since many members are also looking for historical romances.

What year did you read it or when was it published? What time period is it set in? Remember the cover? Series or standalone?

Bethany | 40 comments I don't remember when I read it, but I think it was part of a series. The heroine lived in France with her husband prior to leaving him.

If you can narrow down when you read it to even a decade, that can be helpful. Or if you think it was published in a certain decade, that is helpful too. E.g. did you read this after 2000, or before?

Bethany | 40 comments I think I read it maybe 2 or 3 years back. I think it took place maybe early 19th century. I remember she couldn't get a divorce because "it just wasn't done."

Bethany, can you tell us about the hero - e.g., aristocratic/titled, job, personality, family/friends, hobbies, etc.?

Why did she leave or escape her husband - e.g., abusive, has affairs, murderer, etc.?

Bethany | 40 comments The hero was some type of lord. I believe his friends were lords also, and were the heroes of their own books. He was a recluse.

The heroine left her husband because he was abusive and I believe he ended up dying of an overdose.

Also the hero suggested that she could get a divorce. For that time period I believe to get a divorce she had to publicize it, and the hero suggested they could publicize it only in their little town. At the end they begin looking for the husband so that she could try to get the divorce. I think it is in the epilogue when they find out the husband died.

Bethany | 40 comments Unfortunately this is not the series. I will keep looking through the authors other books but I doubt it is her. Thank you!

Bethany | 40 comments the heroine ran away to Cornwall because she did not want to bring scandal to her family. She has sisters although I don't know how many. At the end the hero and heroine are gathered with their friends by the seaside. The heroine is either holding one of their friends babies or gazing at one, when the hero comes up to her and shows her the letter saying her husband died of an opium overdose several years back.

Bethany | 40 comments The heroine also changed her name when she went into hiding so that she could not be found.
