I'm Shine and I love writing stories that involves mysteries, heroes, and villains. I love reading mystery books. Once I start reading those, I'm hooked until I'm finished reading. I'm writing my own series. They were inspired by Marvel movies and mystery books(The Boxcar Children series, Nancy Drew series, Bill Bergson series, Trixie Belden series).
First new member! Welcome to the group!
Hello, fellow friends ! I'm Stephanie , but people also call me Avery , hence my username . Either is fine , and I'm so glad to be part of this group !
I like authors such as Rick Riordan and J.K. Rowling . Yes, yes, I understand that everyone likes authors such as them , but after starting Trials Of Apollo and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child , I can't really choose anyone else . And Pie , I like Laurie Halse Anderson as well! Books such as Chains, Forge, and Fever 1793 (one of my all time favorites) are amazing !
Besides being a bookworm , I like to draw and write .

And Shine , I would love to read your series . I'm actually , believe it or not , a fan of superheroes . Although I'm not a 'super fan' (was that an unintended pun?), I know the basics . I was a fan before Suicide Squad too :) .
I forgot to mention a few things in my previous post :
I would like to write a story . Yeah, not much of a goal . Wait, scratch that , a novel . I've always started them but never finished them . Halfway through , I lose interest and stop writing or face writers block *sighs*.

Hello! I'm Caitlyn, but online I generally go by Nox (either is fine). My favourite books would be the Inheritance Cycle, because dragons ;) I write quite a bit of fanfiction, as well as bits of my own stories. I completed NaNo last year and I'm trying to finish the novel that arose from that. Almost everything I write is fantasy based.Lovely to meet you all :)
Welcome all new members! I hope you will enjoy what Writingtowne has to offer.
Greetings all. Just call me Random, since it's not only my middle name, it's also my preferred handle online. I'm pretty much an oddball in places like this, since I'm not much of a reader, even though I'm a writer. So yeah, sorry to say I can't say I have any favorite books or authors I like to read. Even my writing doesn't have any major themes or favorites. My short stories can be any genre depending on my mood, but right now the book I'm writing (and/or those I'm thinking of writing) is a sci-fi/fantasy hybrid type of thing.
Hi Random ! Welcome to the group :)
Hi everyone :)My name is Valerie (or Val for short is fine) and I may be a bit of an oddball in this group of "young writer" seeing as I am 34 and seven novels in my career... I still write and you can find all the links on my Goodreads author profile. :)
Hmm, my favorite writer might differ a bit from yours: it's Edgar Allan Poe, but I also like Neil Gaiman and Joseph Delaney. My favorite stories of all time are The Masque of the Red Death (a short story by Poe), Death Note (a manga by T. Ohba and T. Obata) and The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland (the tale by Lewis Carroll).
I'm also a geek and a gamer and I listen to classical music along with Celtic music and symphonic metal.
Oh! And French is my main language. Voilà :)
Hey I know you! ;) Thanks for joining!
Pie wrote: "Hey I know you! ;) Thanks for joining!"Haha yes, fellow Potterhead! ^_^ I know you too! ^_^
Thanks for the welcome! =D
Hi everyoneI'm Charlie.
I like reading classics.
I like writing but I've never finished anything beyond 2 pages.
Hi Charlie! It's okay to start small. I used to do the same as you but one day I found a story I really enjoyed and didn't want to stop! Don't worry, if you like writing you are welcome here :)
Hey everybody, I'm Riana. I love reading anything by Shannon Hale or John Flannagan. I am quite ashamed of myself as I have not been reading near as much as I would like. I have mostly been devoting most of my time-when I'm actually not watching TV-to getting my first book-Dawn to Dusk-published. And since then, u have been working on getting my next book ready to go.
Oh, and in the rest of my spare time, I train horses.

Hey Riana! Welcome! I completely relate to you about the whole "not reading as much as I'd like". I'd say how many, but considering I have a whole profile on a website all about books, it would be too embarrassing!
I don't think any of us read as much as they'd like; life has a way of... getting in the way! :PWelcome to the group, Riana (I know, I'm a few days late..)
Welcome! If you have questions, you can ask them in the "Questions?" discussion topic and myself or another mod will help you!
Hello everyone, my name is Dakota. I am brand new to the writing scene so if anyone has suggestions I would love to hear them.As far as a favorite book would go I'd have to say just line up Vonnegut's bibliography and take a pick at random and it stands a good chance at being my favorite, again though, I would really love recommendations if anyone has one
Welcome Dakota! There is a topic in the "Writingtowne library" where you can find some great books our members thought were good. There is also a book discussion board there where we are trying to read a book all about writing.
Hello my name is Laura and reading and writing are my passions.I don't think I have a favorite book because I've read so many amazing ones!
My favorite genre is psychological thriller because I find the subject really interesting! My favorite author is probably Neil Gaiman, but I also like Cameron Jace and Dean Koontz.
I love writing everything (except romances and mysteries) but most of the time I'll find myself writing suspense stories.
My dream is to publish at least one book in my life and possibly have a career in book publishing or editing.
Welcome to the group, Laura! I think you'll find many other members with the same dream as yours , and lots of encouragement for writers like you and me . :)
Welcome, Laura! I totally agree with you about not having a favorite book. I know that I said The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale, but that is just ONE of many. I don't even know if I have a favorite author.
And follow your dreams. It is a pretty cool feeling to be able to say that you published a book.

Hello everybody who is new! Thanks for joining our small but growing town.
Are there any new members that wish to introduce themselves? We have more than 20!
Hello. My name is Leon and i love to write. I mostly write movie and serie scripts, but recently started writing a book. My favorite book is Sophie's world and I love the utopian/distopian gerne. I am from the Netherlands so my english will probebly not be perfect all the time. The thing I find most important during writing is what I teach others. Mostly this is a moral code. I like philosophy and you can always start a discussion with me about almost everything. I hope that we can help eachother.
Welcome Leon! We're from all different places and countries, so you'll definitely feel at home.
And, interesting fact, when I was younger I used to write plays to enter playwright contests, though in sure I'm not as good a playwright as you.

Welcome to Writingtowne Leon! I'm a big philosophy fan too :)
Hi! My name is Armish. The name's a little hard to pronounce, I know c: I love reading and writing. I also draw and paint. I tend to write short stories more though I want to start (and finish :P) a full fledged novel. I'm from Pakistan. I don't exactly have a favourite book but I have a few authors whose books I really like for eg. Rick Riordan, Leigh Bardugo, Susan Ee and more. I'm fascinated by Film, Drama. What I want to do is create something that people can really connect to and love, something that can touch and maybe change their lives for the better :D (I don't actually know how to finish this thingy so I'll just click on 'post' :D)
Welcome Armish! I like to draw and paint too, and I also like Rick Riordan and Susan Ee(do you know how to pronounce that...?)! If you liked those authors, you might like Cassandra Clare as well (my lame way of giving you an author recommendation ^_^) !
I'm so glad that you're a part of the group now . I think your goals ( change people's lives, complete a novel) are very genuine and sincere :)

Hi Armish!Great to have you in the group :)
Your goal of changing people's lives with your writing is so cool! I've never thought about writing in that way before, and it's so beautiful.
Hope you have fun with the contests and discussions we have in this group.
Hi all! I'm Maggie, but as a lot of people call me, Maggs. My biggest dream is to be a author, and I have attempted to write a couple of short stories myself. (They aren't the best)
I'm studying in writing and literature, and I've written and started to write stories on goodreads and wattpad. Anyways, I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to Stephanie Avery who invited me here. It means the world to me :)
Welcome to Writingtowne Maggie! Aren't you in the Potterheads Group?
Welcome Maggie!
If you'd like to boost yourself a bit try a contest or challenge , as they're quite..challenging . They can really push you to your best limits, plus you can win a few "word dollars" and get your name put in the Hall of Fame (if you win ^_^) !
I can't wait to read some of your writing !

Hey, I'm Johanna and from Germany.Currently I mainly write fanfiction and some original works in german that are not yet published. Since I'm about to finish University soon ... maybe ... hopefully, I'm currently only writing for fun and when I have them time to do so, but, of course, like most hobby authors I dream about one day publishing my books and maybe even earning some money with it.
For fanfiction I write whatever inspires me. In my original work I tend to stick with fantasy. Every time I try to imagine a story in another genre somehow the people tend to suddenly have magical powers or the like ... I wonder how that happens. xD
I'm new to good reads and look forward to intresting discussions and meeting nice people. Write to me!!! :D
Hi Johanna! Welcome to Goodreads and Writingtowne!I hope you have fun here with discussions and we also have places you can post you work to be critiqued.
:)
Welcome Johanna! I hope you find some fun here.

I have read Casssandra Clare's books and my absolute favourite series is The Infernal Devices. I loved Will and Tessa. I didn't particularly like the The Mortal Instruments and, is it The Dark Artifices? The one with Lady Midnight? Also, you definitely need to check out Leigh Bardugo's work! That woman is brilliant!! Shadow and Bone was so amazing!!
@Armish
Thanks for the recommendations :)

Welcome to the group, Johanna. And welcome to all you other new members. I'm glad to have you in this group!
Hi! I'm Lea and I love writing scifi with romance. Currently, I'm in a writers block, which I just can't get over. I love love love to read. My all time favorite book is Wonder, but I will always love the Harry Potter series as well. Out of the HP series, I love Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and the Order of the Phoenix.
Welcome, Lea. Welcome to the group. I am sorry to hear that you have writer's block. That is probably the most annoying problem that we writers face.
Hello! My name is Caity. I find myself writing mostly fantasy, but my writing is bit more varied than one would expect. I have a hard time finishing anything I write - mainly due to writer's block, which I have at the moment. I have attempted NaNo a few times, and plan to again this year if possible.
Picking a favorite book is difficult for me. I absolutely loved the Harry Potter series, Divergent trilogy, and The Infernal Devices.
Before this, my writing was never shown to more than maybe five people, so I wish I had found this group years ago.

My favorite book of all time is Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and I like everything about the Harry Potter series. Other than JK Rowling, my favorite author is Laurie Halse Anderson. I write mostly realistic fiction, but often times I find myself dreaming of writing a fantasy story or script. My dream is to one day see one of my books on a stranger's shelf.
