If you like historical fiction , here are some beautifully written books by Laurie Halse Anderson (that I thoroughly enjoyed !):
-Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson
-Forge (sequel to Chains) by Laurie Halse Anderson
-Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson
As for those of you who like wild, pulse-racing adventures , here you are :
- The False Prince by Jennifer A. Nielson
I highly recommend this book, it's a quick read with a lot of adventure . Please please please try reading it . It's wonderful, one of my favorite middle grade books. If you can't get enough , there's a trilogy .
- City Of Bones by Cassandra Clare
A-mazing! It is the first book in The Mortal Instruments series , and is a YA book.
Prequel Series: The Infernal Devices.
Sequel Series : The Dark Artifices (that includes Lady Midnight which everyone used to be raving about).
- Graceling by Kristin Cashore
There have been a lot of negative reviews , but if you stick around Graceling'll get really good . Then you'll want to read the whole trilogy .
I definitely recommend the Harry Potter and Percy Jackson series as well , if you haven't read them yet please do ! :)
If you like animals, heartwarming stories about them, and a little poetry you'll love:
- The Underneath by Kathi Appelt
Spectacularly written, with a ending that satisfies all . About a dog and cat's friendship, and of course with three kittens . And a revenge-thirsty snake.
If you like corrupt governments ( well Hunger Games, duh ) and dystopian-like reads , read:
- The Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
You'll get pulled into the mysterious and magical world of Silvers and Reds, and when Aveyard pulls off her final trick you won't believe it even happened . Question your loyalties multiple times throughout the book and keep reading , it's amazing .
I swear I've read all of these books, please really try them ! Even if they don't seem appealing at first, stick around and they get so much better.

Thanks for all of the suggestions! The Underneath sounds good. Same for the Red Queen.
I also suggest the "His Dark Materials" series by Philip Pullman. I've only read the first one, but it was really good!

I will try it . There's also The Darkest Minds series, which my enthusiastic friend recommended to me :)
I totally recommend John Flannagan's series The Ranger's Apprentice and Brotherband Chronicles. They are set in a fictional world in medevial times, and they ate a good mix of action, mystery, and humor. Oh My Goodness. They are sooo funny.
Have you read Glass Sword ? I loved Red Queen, and was looking forward to the next book's release . However, Glass Sword I did not love like I loved Red Queen . It was (please don't hate me) tedious and I felt like Kilorn had no purpose in the story .
And, are you reading City Of Bones ? It's truly amazing ! Though I would recommend reading the Infernal Devices series first . Who's your favorite ship? Or do you not do ships ?
Anyway, welcome to the group ! :)

This seems like more of a YA board so maybe this suggestion is out of place but I really loved Brave New World by Aldous Huxley Out of all the dystopias I've read about the one that Huxley created terrifies me the most simply because of how attractive it is. It changed what I thought about not only dystopia but eutopia as well.
On top of that it's not a tough read. I finished it in just a few days, which for me is lightning fast. Definitely recommend
I kind of feel like I've been reading too much YA , so it's good that you recommended me that because I want to move out of my comfort zone !
I'm in kind of the same situation but in reverse. I have been wanting to find some YA just so I can have a conversation with someone about books I've read, it's kind of hard to do that with what I'm reading now.So far the only YA that has recently caught my eye was the Hunger Games (first book only, I found out it was a trilogy months after reading the first one and never went back for the next book). I remember that I loved the Harry Potter series when I was a kid, never finished the last book though so maybe I'll do that? Any recommendations though?
Laurie Halse Anderson has some great YA books, but Harry Potter is my favorite book series of all time so definitely read it!!!
The Mortal Instruments series is what really got me into YA, if you be haven't looked at that yet. The first book is City of Bones , again . Even if you don't like the small blurb , still try it . Before , I wasn't that interested in it , but now I'm totally in the fandom .
You don't want to stop reading once you have started it .

Personally, I liked Wintergirls, by Laurie Halse Anderson. It's pretty intense but worth it in the end!
