Writer's block doesn't just have to be about starting a new project and being stuck. You might just be confused on which turn to take on your project's path, and this is the place to receive help with that! You can ask questions and/or give options for other people to give their opinion on. If you would like, you could put it up for vote on this discussion board!

How many words is a good amount for a chapter of fan fiction?
There's no amount for fan fiction per se.Is your fan fiction a short story? A novella? A novel?
Those have rough word counts :)
ah, I'm not sure! Right now i'm only doing around 700 words per chapter.
Well, I'm gonna give you my own, personal advice (you can discard it if you want :P)The best amount of words for your fan fiction is the one that you'll see when your story reaches its end. ;)
Haha, beautiful advice Valerie !
As for you, Hermione, I think seven hundred words is definitely enough ! If you really can fit all your information in there (and you definitely can ! I've seen your work) then you are all set to go. Quality , not quantity ... One of my elementary school teachers told me that but I forget which one :)
Anyway , just stick with how much you think you need to write . Seven hundred is great!

Thank you for the advice! I think Ill stick with what I'm doing then. I don't think the plot would be as exciting if it was any longer! :)
I have a scene in my head with my character Joseph from the story I posted in the random writing thread. The scene has him roaming the wasteland alone and eventually he is captured. The whole scene was inspired by Bohemian Rhapsody and I feel like the song adds quite a bit to the scene so I want to add it somehow.
My immediate thought was to just give him an iPod but then that would force the whole thing to happen in five minutes and I'm thinking that he's going to take a long walk, much longer than 5 minutes. And on top of that I want specific parts of the song to show up at certain parts of his walk.
Is there any way to evoke this song the way I am describing it? The absolute best idea I had is to just add a playlist to the beginning of the chapter but that just seems really lazy
I really don't know...Honestly, if it were me, I would just incorporate bits of the lyrics in the text, separated from the rest by a paragraph jump and write it in italics... But that's just me, I don't know if that's something that'd help you or not.....
Hey maybe he could lime, be stuck in the song in his head!Sometimes, I get stuck with a song for an entire day and they say that to get rid of it, you're supposed to sing it out loud. .. So maybe he could sing it, you know. Fill the silence of the wasteland?
That would be fine for most of it though there is one problem with it. Some of the lyrics for the song would, in my head anyway, would have more to do with people other than JosephFor example, his capture starts at "I see a little silhouetto of a man" which I'm thinking is coming from the POV of a hostile soldier.
Though maybe it could be from Joseph's perspective? As in he is seeing an enemy soldier and the "thunderbolts and lightning......" bit can be the actual ambush and capture?
I'm in somewhat of a predicament. I'm not even sure if it can be deemed a predicament.
I have a pretty lengthy and thought-out idea for a story that I have a lot of faith in, and I've been thinking about posting it on Wattpad.
However, I am strongly worried about every writer's nightmare- plagiarism.
There have been a lot of cases of plagiarism on Wattpad. I know a lot of you are published authors or have Wattpad accounts, so any advice or things I need to know before making a decision?

I haven't published so I'm probably not the best person to listen to, but I will share my thoughts:That same fear (plagiarism) is why I haven't published a lot on Wattpad. If you really like your story and are truly afraid of the idea of it getting stollen, I wouldn't put it on Wattpad.
But that's just me. I think you should wait for more answers because I don't use Wattpad very much.
@Laura
Thanks for sharing ! The fear of plagiarism is a totally real thing :)

Technically when you publish a story on Wattpad, you can set what kind of copyright it has. If someone does plagiarize your work, it will be almost extra illegal because of this. You should do whatever makes you feel comfortable. There is a risk of plagiarism everywhere, so it's up to you.
That's also very true . Thank you for your response ! I guess you're right , maybe I'll post something first before posting a full on novel.
