You do not need to claim a canon character, you can make original character that belong to one of the Fandom's universes. They do, however, must fit into the universe, can not be products of a crackship, as the Veils were removed rather recently, and can not be overpowered or related to a pre-existing canon character in any way - sibling, child, cousin, nephew or so forth. Species can not be added to a Fandom outside of Undertale and Creepypasta, which only have 'monsters' in a vague sense.
