Trisha | 30284 comments Hello everyone! We've take a little break from Weekly challenges but I thought I'd start it back up and see if anyone was interested.

If you have a suggestion or an idea for a weekly theme - I'd love to have everyone host a week! We have a Weekly Host volunteer thread! Just post here and I'll give you a week (or you can request one)

Your challenge this week -
Something New

New author
New Series
New Genre
New Book
New....you fill in the blank

Find any way you've tried something new in reading and post here what you hope to read and how it works

and then check back in and let us know how it went!

Trinity I forgot to say I changed my choice to Existence (Existence Trilogy, #1) by Abbi Glines instead and went with new series and I finished it yesterday with 3 stars from me

Trisha | 30284 comments I read: The Cresswell Plot by Eliza Wass
I went with new author: Eliza Wass

this was an....interesting story. I gave it three stars - hard to explain but I did enjoy it. The struggle of the kids and the main character. it was scary and real.

message 14: by Ashlyn (new)

Ashlyn | 1842 comments I read You Make Me (Blurred Lines, #1) by Erin McCarthy , which was a new author to me.

I gave it one star because it was terrible (in my opinion), and I just thought everthing about it, such as the charaters and plot, seemed a little ridiculous and unrealistic.

Sorry you got such a poor book that you didn't enjoy.

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments I changed my book to new author and I read Becoming Nicole The Transformation of an American Family by Amy Ellis Nutt which was really, really good. It's a GLBTQ book about a transgender.

I gave it 5 stars and I hope others will read it, even if they are like me and generally do not care a lot for non-fiction.

message 17: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new)

Trisha | 30284 comments Awe, sorry you didn't like your pick, Ashlyn!

Allison Brunskill | 1891 comments Finished Hold Me Like a Breath (Once Upon a Crime Family, #1) by Tiffany Schmidt . 1* it was silly and made me angry

Sorry you didn't like your book.

message 21: by Chelsea (last edited Aug 19, 2016 05:42PM) (new)

Chelsea Morrison (chelsealouise07) Shiver (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #1) by Maggie Stiefvater

I didn't see this until now, but that worked out perfectly, haha. I read Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater, and gave it 4/5 stars. Stiefvater is a new author to me, and this is the first in a series, as well as the newest library book I checked out. Overall I loved it, but the writing bothered me a bit in some places (in an it-seemed-too-simple way). Loved the characters, though.

I'll have to keep an eye out for these weekly challenges. ^-^

Susan (jazzescrapper) | 2172 comments I don't know how I missed this challenge. I started reading a new author to me on the 17th Me Before You (Me Before You, #1) by Jojo Moyes and not only did I LOVE the book I loved the way this author told the story. Can't wait to read more from Jojo Moyes. I just finished it about an hour ago. I will watch for the new weekly challenge this coming week and post my book.
