So You Want To Be A Thriller Writer, A Discussion Group discussion

I see that there is a book about self-editing your work posted in the group. I am at the final stages and seriously looking to edit and publish my work. This is my first novel. Should I self-edit or find a good editor to do it for me? Can anyone who has done both give me some insight on pros and cons?
