Can you get the Rhythm Right?

Merlin walked with his new pal Melody to the barrels. He didn't know much about the school despite being a student of Hogwarts for a year.

"okay" she said, stepping in front of the barrels "what you have to do is knock on the right barrels with the right tune" she told him, reaching her hand out and knocking on a few of the barrels, in the tune required. "but if you get them wrong, we do have a trap, you could be doused in vinegar, so... be carefull."

"That's the trap? Why not release a swarm of hornets? That'd work much better." he suggested.

"because that would hurt them" she said with a frown. "sometimes people get it wrong by accident and it would be unfair to tem to be stung to death"

"It will teach them not to be wrong though, at my muggle school my teacher threw objects at us if we were wrong about something which helped us remember better. Also, life isn't fair and I am going to buy some hornets to make the trap better."
He couldn't believe what a terrible trap it was, it was more of a prank.

"no no please don't, its fine the way it is, vinegar kind of stings anyway" she said. "sounds like you had a horrible muggle teacher, I was never taught by any muggles, my parents are pure blood and I was home schooled" she told him

"I am half blood, my parents just sent me to muggle school until I was old enough to come here. Your parents seem like nice people, taking the time to teach you themselves." He envied that she could be home-schooled, muggle school was pretty shitty. He hated it so much he filled all the drawers with rice and glued the grains down.

"they're okay, they were a bit strict, they never have much time for me anymore.." she admitted without realizing what she was saying. "they kinda of ignore me whenever im at home now. "
