Probably a nice dinner at a fancy restaurant.

Champagne!
Champagne!

I agree with Skeetor. A nice dinner out.

I would also say a dinner out, or I do the cooking and they come over.

Cats.

Sunday, Sept 4: In the USA it's Labor Day Weekend - the "official" end of summer. How are you celebrating?

Not a whole lot officially, especially since Son #2 ended up in the ER with a kidney stone, but we are going to look for some good end of the season camper sales.

Hmmm, good question. I think I'll celebrate by setting the table with my snowflake plates!

Tell everyone I know and don't know!

My husband's cousin is coming to visit and we are going to the Penny Arcade nearby and just have a nice day out. Also putting together a bicycle and wagon - my little boy turns two on Tuesday.

Hubby and I just got back from a vacation so we spent the weekend doing laundry and doing some gardening. Really enjoyed cooking at home. Last night we had a fire in the fire pit and just sat on the patio watching the fire.

I know, right? I honestly can't wrap my brain around it all.

Greatest fear is losing my spouse or children, so far thankfully that has not happened.
Second biggest fear is bats. Yep, that has happened a few times.

How many do I get to pick? If I can only pick one I will pick Hillary Clinton.

Someone who likes to wash dishes? Oh, maybe that's not what you mean...in that case, Gian Lorenzo Bernini, Scipio Africanus, Eddie Izzard, Conn Iggulden, Lorenzo Medici, Voltaire, Michel de Montaigne...on second thought, can we make this a dinner party?

Patricia Cornwell or Kathy Reichs. The conversions would be so cool!
Sunday, September 11: What were you doing when you heard the news of the attack on the World Trade Center?

I had just gotten out of my karate class in my junior year of high school. The gym teacher was unlocking the locker room door and asked us if we had heard. The rest of the day, we just watched the news in all our classes in disbelief.

I heard about it late since I don't wake up early. I was told over the phone and I was home, so I turned on the news and watched the towers get hit and go down immediately. It was many hours later before I understood they did not go down right away but that this was a time-lapsed version.
I just cannot begin to imagine experiencing such a shocking tragedy in person.

Switzerland

I was on a breakfast run for my coworkers and listening to the radio. The first plane had just hit and the DJ's were trying to figure out if the story was for real or not. Such a sad and angry day...

Tanzania

It was just after lunch over here and someone in my team came into my office and said that a plane had just hit one of the buildings in NY. I couldn't believe her. We watched a little bit on TV, went home early and just watched the events unfold in the evening. I agree Skeetor, a very sad and angry day. I still cannot comprehend how humans can do that to other humans. I really struggled when we were in NY recently to try and explain it to my 8 year old.

I was at work and a co-worker arrived and announced that a plane had just hit the World Trade Center. I called my husband at home and told him to turn on the TV. He called me repeatedly over the next few hours giving me updates ... a second plane, people jumping, the towers collapsing, etc. Hubby used to work on Wall Street, and had several friends who worked in the WTC. It was hours before he had heard from one woman ... who had walked from the WTC all the way to her apartment on the upper East Side.

I had only been at work at a high school for a few minutes. Our AD always had the TV on in his office, tuned to a news channel. One by one, we wandered into his office to watch what we could while trying to get the kids into their first classes. I remember our vocal music teacher was beside herself with worry as her brother was a commercial air pilot and she could not get a hold of him. (Turned out he didn't fly that day). After a few hours of every classroom being glued to the television, the principal told the teachers to turn off the TVs and try to teach. Student attendance for the next couple of days was very low.

Driving to work

Try to correct the people spreading the rumor and then ignore it.

Does the friend know about the rumor? If not I would probably ask her if it was true.

I haven't done much traveling but the one place I would love to go back to is Branson Missouri.
Leah wrote: "September 14 (Wednesday): You’ve just heard a bad rumor about a friend. What do you do?"
Depends ...
If I know that it is false, I try to quash it immediately, by saying something like, "Actually that is totally false. Where did you hear such a thing?!" If I can share anything that will convince the person of the error, I will ... but if my friend has told me something in confidence I'd suggest that the rumor spreader contact "X" and ask him/her about it.
If I'm not sure, I'd try to find out the truth ... hopefully directly from my friend.
If I know that the major substance is accurate, I politely say, "Thanks for telling me, but I was already aware because X is my good friend." Then I'd change the subject. Just because someone shares a juicy tidbit with you is no reason for you to spread it farther.

Other than my husband? My brothers and/or sister-in-law.

I cant imagine being in trouble but if I was it would have to be my husband of course, but if I have to choose someone else it would be my best friend.
