So for future reference: not every book with a diverse cast of characters will be will have an accurate or fair representation of its diverse characters. BUT, it's also fair to note that reading a problematic book is okay as long as you are aware of why it's problematic and are able to read it critically.

I totally agree with you - representation doesn't mean positive representation, and I'm glad you pointed Eleanor and Park out. I still love it, but these things do need to be called out. Thanks for the links, they were both really helpful, both as a reader and a writer :)
