The Land

The land of Azela is divided into five sections. (Honestly, it kind of looks like the mem-block game... https://images.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=h...) In the four outer sections, you have Anahita, the land of water, Bodaway, the land of fire, Makani, land of wind, and Chik, land of earth. In the center of these sections is the capital of Azela, Upendra.

The Government/Workings

Each outer section has it's own government and judicial workings. However, Upendra, being the capital, has the most power. They govern the entire kindgom and have say in any matter they like.

The People

Throughout time, the people of all five kingdoms have all had a specialty, or a power. Earth, Air, Water, and Fire. There are few who are born without one of these elements, but the majority have one. When a child is born, they often have the element of the section they were born in. For example, if a child were born in Anahita, they would likely have water specialty. When the child grows old enough (Most leave at age 7) the family will send their child to the section in which they belong to live- if the child doesn't already live there- so they can grow up amongst those with the same specialty as them. For example, if a child with water specialty were born in Bodaway, at age 7 they would travel to Anahita to live.

Those with opposing specialties often quarrel and fight with one another, sometimes causing an occasional war between sections. This is part of the reason why the race for the throne is so competitive. Each specialty wants to be the ruler over the others.

The Race

In Magdalena's will, she left the throne, and her riches to whomever completes the race, and is deemed worthy of winning. In this race, there are a series of tests in which the competitors must complete successfully, or be eliminated. These tests come at random moments, scattered throughout the year after the Queen's death. The means of winning these tests can come from either completing them honestly, or through cheating- there are no rules.
