PtP - Team Onederful
1. Introduce yourself to your team. Definitely let your team members know where you are from. This is a 'nice to know' when categories are announced and when team-mates can expect other members to post their book choices.2. Pick a Team Captain. The team captain will track the books read by the team and double-check that your book selection complies with the rules - eg make sure that the selection and completion posts are as per the formatting and information requested below (msg 3).
Anyone is free to ask questions in the Q&A/Announcement thread - here. If you are unsure, please ask.
Once a Captain has been decided, the Team Captain should reserve a couple of posts in this thread to track their team's book selection and completion.
3. Name your team. This is not mandatory, but it is fun. Given we are an open/public group with no age limit, so please make sure any chosen name is smart, not smutty ;)
Please PM your name to me by 28 May.
4. If you have a private profile, please 'friend' your team-mates. This is really important, because without this, your team-mates can't see your shelves to select a books under option 2.
5. Please post your book selections/completions in the format provided below. (This format is also posted in both the Q&A and Sign-Up threads.) We need to know the week that each book corresponds to, the page numbers, and how the book qualifies (where applicable), etc. I can't stress this enough.
You don't want to start reading a book and then find it doesn't meet the requirements because some information (eg page count or theme link) was missing from your original post.
I will be monitoring this and your book will not be considered complete until I am satisfied that your selection and completion posts comply.
Remember - you can ONLY change your book selection in the week that the theme is called. This is different from Round 1.
6. You MUST check in with your team each week, ideally once the theme is announced. Please let your team know if you except to have spotty communication or are on holidays or having an operation.
7. When you post the completion of your book, you must post a review; enough for us to know you have actually read the book. Please don't link to a review. You must post the review in this thread.
8. Re-reads are allowed but you can't read the same book twice within this challenge.
9. There is no prize for the winning team - bragging rights only :)
10. Each week, the theme will be announced in the Q&A/Announcement thread. The full list of past themes will be maintained in msg 1.
The Rule on the Pass Option
* Each team can only have ONE member using their pass each week.
* Each member can only use that pass once each 4 weeks.
* This means that two team members will miss using a pass in each 4 week block.
* No-one can use the pass option in the last week of the challenge.
Posting formatFor the initial selection post I need:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Page numbers
How the book qualifies
For the completion post I need:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Rating (1-5)
Review
Please DO NOT CHAT in the post. It needs to be super clear.
As a change from the last round, I will maintain the final tracking of each team's completed books in a separate thread.I still need the Team Captain to track for their team as I will be using this list to check with my list :)
Please be patient while you wait for me to update each team and their books. I am sometimes out of internet range, so it can take time to manage this process. As the modbot though, I'm hoping to rope in some of the other moderators sometimes ;)
Hi all! I look forward to playing with you this time round!ETA: I forgot to add some things, I was super tired last night! But as no one else has commented yet, I will just edit my post and add them now.
I live in the mountains of SoCal, making it Pacific time here. I like just about all types of romance, but I do need it to be romance! Besides being the captain of my team last round and thinking we should spread the glory around, I will be traveling or training for work during this round. It won't interfere with my reading, but it might limit my time online. I'll still be able to check in, but would rather not have to keep track of everybody else. Long story short, LOL, I hope someone else volunteers to be captain!
Looking forward to getting to know all of you better! (Because right now I'm feeling a little lonely...)
Oh my! This is by far the quietest group! What's going on girls?? I KNOW Gianna is a chatterer - but I also know she is starting up her own business and said she wouldn't be quite as active this round... And your other teamies were pretty prompt on their replies to participate.
Don't fret Kat, I'm sure the others will all be here soon :)
I just got on and headed here first thing :) I'm Diane from PA, that makes Eastern time here. I enjoy romance and other genres as well. Chick Lit is not my favorite and I avoid it when I can. Heat level, I go from mild to wild with everything in between. This is my first time doing this, so I would rather not captain while getting my feet wet for the first time...lol. (Sorry Kat, no volunteer here) Looking forward to getting to know everyone :)
Hello my name is Nicole and I live in Louisiana. For some reason team 1 wasn't listed when I logged on but I'm here now. I read everything romance. I like reading about a lost guy and the girl who saves him. I'm excited about this challenge.
Yay - two more teamies for Kat :)Nicole - I'm guessing that Team 1 was sitting over on the next page. If you can't find the team again, just look to see if there is 'more discussion' or something at the bottom of all the threads :)
Hi all my name is Anna. Since the end of last game, I have relocated from Idaho Falls to Louisville Ky for work. I plan on staying in Louisville for a long time so hopefully no cross country moves again anytime soon. I am originally from Alabama. I read almost anything. I love romance books the most but I will try any genre at least once. Sorry I didn't respond sooner. I'm getting married in July so I have a pretty crazy schedule these next two months. I can read anywhere but I might not always have access to my computer to be a really efficient captain! I'm excited to start reading. :)
Hi Nicole & Anna! Anna, how does it feel to be back in the south? Nicole gotta ask (I'm sure you don't hear this much...lol), do you know any hot guys with that yummy Cajun accent? ;)
Hi everyone! It's really great to be back in the South. I totally missed the food, culture, sports but I will admit I didn't miss the 60 degree weather one day 90 degree the next with air that you can cut with a knife! A cajun southern accent would be nice to listen to. ;)
Diane, I just moved to louisiana about a month ago. So I haven't met many people with a cajun accent yet. I did a cross country move as well and moved here from Indiana so everyone her thinks I talk funny LOL.
Nicole looks like we both moved around the same time! Have you found good food yet? There's some good southern places depending on where you're living at.
Nicole, I know what you mean about talking funny. I'm originally from West Virginia. When we first moved to PA, I heard all the time "You aren't from around here. What part of the south are you from? Georgia, Louisiana?" Then I would have to say "Right next door, West Virginia." LOL
Crawfish is really good. I love gumbo. When I moved to Idaho, people knew I was southern before I even told them where I was from. Now, my accent has kinda mellowed out but I'm sure it will come back.
I know where that is. I am from teays valley. It's between charleston and Huntington. I went to Winfield high school.
Hubby, kids and I spent a year in Teays, then 2 in St. Albans before he got the mine job in PA. It is a small world...lol
I'm from Southern California not from the South, but I will be visiting there in a couple of weeks! =) Going to Georgia to visit family.
Diane T. wrote: "We're still missing two team mates aren't we?"Yeah, we are. Hope they show up soon! I'm good with the name, but we still need a captain. If we were mean, we could say the last one to show up is captain! =P
Well, I guess we at least have our name. Team 1 is Team Onederful. I'll give being captain a try if no one else will take it. BUT, I've never done this before, so I will have to get together with a mod & have them walk me through it...lol
I'm afraid to take it with all these wedding things I have coming up. You can totally do it Diane! We can be your cheerleaders. :)
Captaining is pretty straight forward Diane, and Kat and I can help ;)All you need to do is keep an eye on everyone's selection and completion posts (that they hold all the needed information as per msg 3 : https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...) and update a list of completed books here on the first page so that I can use it to check against my list of completed books :) Hope that makes sense.
I'll be following up with missing members tomorrow if they still haven't surfaced by then...
Okay guys, what's it going to be? Team Onederful or just Onederful? I prefer Team Onederful since we are a team. What do you guys think?
Diane T. wrote: "Okay guys, what's it going to be? Team Onederful or just Onederful? I prefer Team Onederful since we are a team. What do you guys think?"I prefer Team Onderful myself! Diane, I will be happy to help you all I can, I am a mod and was the captain last time. It isn't hard at all, just need to take the time to check things. I was new to it them, my first team challenge, but it wasn't a big deal!
There have been a couple of comments in other team threads about not chatting in the thread too much. Please please please chat - the only time I don't want extraneous chat is IN the actual posts when you select or finish a book. When you post your selected or completed book, please just follow the format in msg 3 at the front of your team thread and click post. You can then start a lengthy conversation, no prob. I just need the actual FINAL book seletion and completion posts to be 'clean' so that I can see them easily.
Jane, our name has been decided on. We are Team Onederful. Has anyone heard from or does anyone know our two missing team members?
Diane, you might want to reserve some spots for you to keep track of things. That way you can keep everything in one spot as the weeks go on.Jane was going to PM the missing teammates, she will let us know if she hears from them! Hopefully they will turn up after they hear from her.
MountainKat wrote: "Diane, you might want to reserve some spots for you to keep track of things. That way you can keep everything in one spot as the weeks go on."I'll reserve the next 3. I like lots of room...lol.
