Chance and Community Chest – there are 12 cards for each. If a player lands on one of those spots they will roll the dice a second time and then would “pull” the corresponding card and do whatever it says on the card. Once a card is used, it will be out of play unless needed to finish the game. Books for this would need to be at least 150 pages

Hello ladies. Hope you are ready for a rousing game of Monopoly. Have you given thought to if this is going to be a fast game or a slow game? I was thinking there were 2 ways we could play it:1) per the rules, everyone just rolls and reads on their own schedule- this will likely be a fast game
2) one roll per week to give everyone a chance to catch up and stay relatively even- this would likely be a slower game
Or any other way you can think of.
I usually check goodreads at least 2-3 times a day, so I should be able to keep current on the tracking, so I made a tracking post above. I hope that was okay with you ladies.
Looking forward to playing with you.
Yeahp that works! Sorry didn't have Internet all weekend so I'm catching up now :) And yeah I'm alright with 1. Doesn't mean I'll be fast though :p I don't read specifically for Monopoly.

Task: O book
Forgot this was Version B :p I'll be even slower with this one!
It's okay, Maddison. I have so many challenges going on that I probably won't be reading specifically for Monopoly; I'm just hoping my other challenges help me in this game.Rolled 5 + 5= 10

Wow for a change I'm the only one that lands on a property, not the only one that doesn't :DBummer that sucks Sam! I'm stuck on that challenge too for a few of my games.

The Abandoned- Amanda Stevens- 9/30/16 (73 pages)
Review: 3 stars
This book is a prequel to the Graveyard Queen series and introduces us to Devlin and the Oak Grove Cemetery. A psych student, Ree, volunteering at the local psych hospital is at the bedside of a woman who dies. She then begins to feel haunted by a ghost and with the help of paranormal investigator, Hayden, tries to identify the ghost, why she is haunting her and how to get rid of her. It was a quick read but I might have enjoyed it more if I had been further in the series because right now, these people don't mean much to me. But knowing their history might play a bigger role down the road. I do plan to continue this series.

finding a book that makes me warm and fuzzy or that has a pet has been hard

Review: This was a weird book. I kept trying to figure out what was going on and what a "walker" meant in this book. Other then that, I liked and the ending was really good. It made me warm and fuzzy and wanting more. Even though, I was lost in this book. I will still continue the series.

Oh right you've already skipped the task.Bummer that's frustrating! Is the only way to get out to roll doubles or read a book about jail?
Thanks, Maddie, but I have a book, I just have to find time to read it. There is an entire listopia list on books set in Pennsylvania.

How it fits: One of the MC's were in jail at the beginning of the book.
Review: This was a great book. I can't believe it is over. She needs to write more in this series. Two book are just not enough. It took me a while to get into the first book, but the minute I read the first line from the second book, I was hooked. I think i'll be thinking about this book for a while.

Review: This is a re-read for me so I can get ready to read the last book in the series, which I haven't read yet. (I know. Shocking). I was drawn in the minute I read it. That usually doesn't happen to me when I read this series. I can't wait to read the last book.

How it fits: Made me sad
Review: This is the second book in the If I stay series. It was a little hard for me to get into the book. So, after I got a little bit more into the book, it was easy for it. It made me sad when Adam and Mia wasn't together anymore but at the end, it made me happy of what happened.

Book: Caught Dead in Philadelphia- Gillian Roberts- 11/10/16
Review: 3 stars
This was an old fashioned mystery. Lots of conversation, not much action and it was impossible for the reader to determine the killer ahead of time with any confidence as the clues were doled out sparingly. Amanda Pepper, English teacher, comes home one day from work to find her colleague, Liza Nichols, dead on her living room floor. Enter Southern detective, CK Mackenzie, who has been transplanted to Philadelphia and who works with Amanda to solve the crime. It was an okay read, but I don't think I'm going to continue this series unless I need more books set in Pennsylvania.
I now own Pennsylvania Railroad.

Book: Personal Demon- Kelley Armstrong- 11/17/16
Review: This is book 8 in the Women of the Otherworld series. This time we focus on Hope, a half chaos demon and Karl, a werewolf. Hope is sent undercover into a gang to determine their plans to cause trouble for the Cabal. Karl goes to keep her out of trouble. This was an okay story, but I didn't have the same feelings for hope that I have had for Elena, Paige and Jaime. Maybe it's because it's her first real book, but I didn't really get a good feeling for her character. I did enjoy Karl though and learning more about his past. I am looking forward to seeing how the ending impacts future books. I will definitely be continuing this series.
This is book 1 of 2 for the property.

Roll Dice
Monopoly Rules
• You do not need to wait for the other player to finish reading before you take your next turn. As soon as you're done reading, go ahead and roll.
• Each property is represented by a shelf. For each grouping of shelves/properties you would read a certain amount of books from that shelf. Once you finish the amount of books you would then “Own” that shelf.
• If you land on an “owned” shelf you would have to read a certain amount of books above what the owner had to read.
• If one person “owns” all of the books in a group (think Mediterranean and Baltic) and another player lands on their properties they would be able to recommend at least one of the books that the player has to read.
• Utilities – For the Electric Company – Read a book where the characters have electric chemistry. For Water Works – Read a book that makes you cry. Books have to be 150 pages or more.
• If a player lands on an “Owned” utility, then the owner will recommend a book with electric chemistry or that makes them cry.
• Railroads – For Reading Railroad – Read whatever you want. For Pennsylvania Railroad – Read a book set in Pennsylvania. For B&O Railroad – Read a book that someone else thought stunk. For Short Line – Read a novella. Page minimum 150 for all but Short Line. 25 page minimum for the novella.
• If a player lands on an “owned” railroad, the owner will recommend a book for that specific railroad.
• Chance and Community Chest – there are 12 cards for each. If a player lands on one of those spots they will roll the dice a second time and then would “pull” the corresponding card and do whatever it says on the card. Once a card is used, it will be out of play unless needed to finish the game. Books for this would need to be at least 150 pages.
• Being in Jail – To get out of jail you would need to have one of the get out of jail free cards, roll doubles on one of your next three turns or read a book where a character is arrested or has been in jail. Books for this would need to be 150 pages or more.
• Just Visiting – Read a novella of your choice, 50 page minimum
• Free Parking – Read any book 100 pages or more
• Go – Read any book of 200 pages or more
• Luxury Tax/Income Tax – Read a book with a rich character, a really poor character or someone that works in a bank. 150 pages or more
• Each roll, you'll post your starting spot, the roll and your new spot on the board.
• When you finish your book you'll post the spot your on, book name, rating, when it was finished and a short review of the book. If you were supposed to read a book that had a specific element (water works utility, book that made you cry), then please mention that in the review.
• Re-reads are allowed.
