Still have to think about it!

message 3: by Dhanaraj (new)

Dhanaraj Rajan | 2962 comments Two books for sure:

To the Lighthouse, a Readlong with Shirley and Cathie and The Murderess.

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

I only have one I definitely want to get to which is our group non-fiction. I will also probably start our group classic The Brothers Karamazov once I've finished my current reads.

message 5: by LauraT (new)

LauraT (laurata) | 14425 comments Mod
Up to now I've only decided for Antonia Fraser,  The Wives of Henry VIII for our non fiction group read
I also want to go on with the All around the world challenge - too many european and north american books these days; so probably H. P. Lovecraft At the Mountains of Madness or Michael Chabon The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay for Antartica and Tim Winton Cloudstreet or something by Geraldine Brooks for Australia ...

message 6: by Amber (new)

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) I'll be reading Under the dome as a readalong at another book club and here before Under the dome season 2 starts June 30th and will go from there.

message 7: by Bionic Jean (new)

Bionic Jean (bionicjean) I also want to push on with my "Around the World Challenge". I've read one from each continent so far - except North America, surprisingly! But there are still a few gaps as I want to represent both fiction and non-fiction.

message 8: by Everyman (new)

Everyman The Wives of Henry VIII. Plato's Phaedo. Don Quixote. The Complete English Works of George Herbert (Everyman edition, naturally!). Others, of course, but not sure which will be plucked out of the several toppling TBR piles yet.

I'll be reading To the Lighthouse, re-reading To Kill a Mockingbird, The Round House (our new group fiction read) and hopefully The Crossing, but not necessarily in that order! We'll see if I actually manage it!

message 10: by Erica (new)

Erica | 958 comments I'll be reading The Snow Child and Mockingjay

message 11: by Gemma (new)

Gemma (gemmagem20) | 460 comments I am going to read Pride & Predjudice. I've booked tickets to see a a production of it at Hanbury Hall, (it's a National Trust property) in July and I have never read it, id like to read before I see it.

message 13: by Bionic Jean (new)

Bionic Jean (bionicjean) That setting looks beautiful, Gemma! Is it an outdoor performance?

message 14: by Gemma (new)

Gemma (gemmagem20) | 460 comments Yes it is Jean. We got married there last September too, such a beautiful venue.

message 15: by Ali (new)

As I am behind with my current months' reads, The House of Mirth & Fahrenheit 451, I am adding to June in addition to To the Lighthouse.

Additional June reads are The Blood of Flowers~read in May and The Burning Dark.

Since I am finally finishing uni on the 6th June, all I have planned so far is The Woman in White as part of our readalong and whatever else is on my kindle to try and finish that part of my 2014 challenge so I can get over my ban.

message 20: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 16369 comments Hmmm... I don't really know what I will be reading in June. Probably our Group Classic Read, The Brothers Karamazov, and some BoTM for other groups such as
Lucky Jim
A Shilling for Candles (reread)
The Secret Vanguard (LT)
and Death is Now My Neighbor, the penultimate Inspector Morse mystery.

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

I want to read The Round House because it is our June Fiction Read and I haven't joined in a group read lately! I also want to marathon the Daughter of Smoke and Bone Trilogy by Laini Taylor, which consists of:
Daughter of Smoke & Bone
Days of Blood & Starlight
Dreams of Gods & Monsters

The concluding book in that trilogy is GINORMOUS so I don't know if I will have time for any others.

message 22: by Garyfalia (new)

Garyfalia I'm not sure yet but I'll definitely try the Brothers Karamazov which is the Group's classic Read and the woman in white in a readalong-I'll also start on the Memoirs of Stefan Zweig for another group

Yeah, I'll need someone to come and haul me out of 1500 England by the time I finish these:) But I am learning lots I didn't know, getting good ideas for other books/authors and generally enjoying this.

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

Bette, with your love of all things 16th century, are you planning on joining with the non-fiction group read?

message 30: by Alice (new)

Alice Poon (alice_poon) I've just picked up The Last Day of a Condemned Man by Victor Hugo and The Wives of Henry VIII from the downtown Vancouver library. I may join the non-fiction group read but am not really sure, since I read at snail pace :/

message 49: by Pink (new)

Pink Paul, I had planned to do the same thing, but I have lots of other big books to read in June. Might have to bite the bullet and try to squeeze it in anyway!
