Connie N. | 3778 comments Great job, Sam and Caroline!

Somehow I thought this would be easy, but it's taking longer than I thought.

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks Connie. I thought it would be easier than it is too. I think the hardest one is 'from your 20 oldest books'. They've been hanging around the TBR so long for a reason! It's good to have the motivation to finally shift them though :)

message 25: by Connie N. (last edited Oct 20, 2016 08:03AM) (new)

Connie N. | 3778 comments That was actually why I signed up for this one, Caroline. I had to read #1 on my list this month, so I figured I could easily fill in the rest of the blanks. It's slow going so far, but the month's not over yet, so I'm hopeful!

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

Still plenty of time. And if not, there's always next month ;)

message 27: by Sam (new)

Sam | 401 comments There should be some nice motivation to read the "finish a difficult challenge" one too. I use it for my Q, X, and Z reads.

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

Sam wrote: "There should be some nice motivation to read the "finish a difficult challenge" one too. I use it for my Q, X, and Z reads."

At the moment I'm using that category for challenges that end before or at the end of the year with just one or two spaces left to fill. If we're still running this challenge next year (I hope so) then I'll probably use it for all those tricky spell out letters!

message 29: by Sam (new)

Sam | 401 comments I hope we are running it too, cause it really helps me find time to read those tricky letters that don't often fall in the monthly challenges and leave me hanging, trying to squeeze them in while doing my monthlies. Now that they are part of the monthlies, it is a lot easier :)
As we all say, "So many books, so little time."

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

I'd guess this one will be staying as it's fairly new but Sharon's in charge of the monthly challenges so the decision will be hers in the end :)

message 31: by Joann (new)

Joann I hope it stays as well. I like any challenge that helps with my TBR list.
I've decided to change the wording on #3 to books I OWN rather than books I bought since I've got some goodreads wins that I need to read.

message 32: by Connie N. (new)

Connie N. | 3778 comments That's a good idea, Joann. I really don't buy very many books so that's not a priority for me. I have much more trouble catching up on the many books I already own.

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm always buying books and then sticking them on my bookshelves for ages (years sometimes!) while I read library books instead, so I quite like that category :)

message 34: by Sam (new)

Sam | 401 comments I changed the wording on the last one to be kindle unlimited instead of free. Once a book is on my kindle, I forget if I bought it or if it was free, so that made that challenge very hard. This way, I ensure that I continue to make good use of my kindle unlimited subscription.

message 35: by Connie N. (new)

Connie N. | 3778 comments I figure that all of my NetGalley books are free AND they are on my Kindle, so it's good to read one of those each month.

It's a site that allows you to read books in advance of their release. You sign up, request those books that interest you, then download the book(s) you are approved for. When you've read them, then post your review to the site (and GR, Amazon, B&N, a blog, etc.) and that's it.

My problem is that I requested way too many when I first joined and got behind. Now I'm playing catch-up, with no end in sight.
