I loved the book, but couldn't the case have been solved if Miles, or any of the investigators, thought to keep watch for the person who continued to leave the wrong flowers on Missy's grave? If someone was leaving flowers -- and Miles didn't know who it was and noticed they weren't Missy's favorite -- that's a lead. Charlie even suggested it was "As if someone was trying to apologize." It's irresponsible not to follow up on that. It would've taken one week to do surveillance at the cemetery and they would've had a prime suspect.

I never thought of that before. Also it amazes me that every single night he visited Miles' home and never once did anyone see him. The mention of how New Bern is such a small town and everyone knows everyone seems to be a little strange that not once no one saw him visit the home, and or visit the grave....
