Welcome to our group discussion of Jacqueline Susann's Valley of the Dolls. Apparently all sorts of people in this group have the urge to read this "Pop Culture Classic!"

Haha, it's a classic! It's been a long time since I've read it, so I may join in this month if I can get my hands on a copy.
I read somewhere that this is Courtney Love's favorite book (from the 90s band, Hole), and that she has a whole bunch of copies. It seems appropriate that she would especially like this book. :)
I hope others enjoy it.

I read this as a teenager and found it to be a complete waste of time. I'm not sure I've got the fortitude to reread it....Will it spark conversations about:
How gender, sexuality, or class shape us and our views of the world?
Or about social justice and gender equality?
I definitely read it originally as "trash", but I would like to re-read it from a feminist critical viewpoint. I think there could be worthy topics to discuss along those lines.
