A reminder we'll be continuing this series next Tuesday Nov 1. Looking forward to what Geder and Clara especially do next. At some point I have to believe the prince is going to take on a bigger role for better or worse.

Lol. I might read this one after I read Return of the Crimson Guard so I'll probably join later in the month.

BTW obviously as we've long deduced the Tyrant's War is Geder's book. It just dawned on me the next book The Widow's House is going to be Clara's book which is exciting. The Spider's War is obvious but I wonder if we'll meet the goddess?

I'm in for this as well, but it'll be later in November. Looking forward to everyone's thoughts.

So the Timzinae hold the secret of the sleeping dragons and Bareship wants to silence them through Geder. So the Spider wants to wake up the Dragons.

I assume I'm reading the tea leaves correctly and Marcus's journey will tie into this.

Loved Clara's chapter :(view spoiler)[ you just know how effective her resistance is going to be because her preparation is so thorough and from the ground up and so clever and subtle. It's very Clara!

Geder: it's shocking to think how far Geder has come from being an absent minded twit to the tyrant he is becoming/has become<\spoiler> (hide spoiler)]

I expect this to be a table setting book for Clara and her character is going to explode in the next book.

Geder, you don't see him as clueless any longer in some sense but he's still clueless in others. He can't read people still as one example.

Gotcha, that's true.

I'm through the low 100's. Just a general opinion but if I have one complaint about the series it's Cithrin's chapters. I found her interesting in the first book but her character is the same recycled stuff again and again. The one point where I thought OK here we go her character is really going to get moving now was the last book when she hooked up with Geder. Then she left the city and sure her insight on him is interesting but let's see something more.

I had the same thought but the interesting part is that's a bad investment that her mentor lost his life against. Sill she needs something else besides what she's been doing for three books to give her character more action.

I'm up to 30 % or p.145 now. I think I have to say that I'm not finding this volume quite as absorbing as the first two, although there's still plenty of time for that to change!

Hmm..still not as good..I'm able to keep putting this down whereas the first 2 I read straight through

For me it's still been mostly Cithrin's chapters that I struggle with but the rest is good.

Phenomenal ending scene especially that last single word. This is shaping up to be in the top 5 series ever.

As you know, I completely agree :) how long do we wait til the next one? Beginning of December? You can understand how I end up cheating a bit...

Totally. I was trying to be better about it being a mod and all but it appears to be down to the two of us so depending where I'm at the end of this month I may end up cheating a bit myself.

Hope you guys are enjoying this one. I'm going to have to pass for now and pick this up another time. Being a serial challenge joiner has come to kick my butt. I really need to get challenge books read.
