I listened to a sample and the narrator did sound good. I think I'll end up reading it though.

I have to say I am looking forward to Promise of Blood and I am counting down the days, trying to keep busy to not jump into it before Jan 10!

Entertainment provided by Gardens of the Moon and if I finish it before Jan 10, then I will start re-reading Deadhouse Gates so I do not feel too tempted!

Sorry I wasn't able to wait, so I started early haha.

Ok, beginning story really is different, it is not slow at all!

Still waiting on my copy of City of Mirrors, so I decided to start a couple of days early.

Through Chapter 8

I like idea of the knack a lot. Very original and then you have the privileged and powder mages. I also like his writing style a lot. Very smooth with no what did I just read moments.

I wish I wasn't so far ahead. The 6 year old had a bad dream and got me up at 3:20. I realized I wasn't getting back to bed so I got up and started reading. It's all of 9:40 now and now sitting at my desk at work I could easily pass out.

Oh my what did I just read!
This books gets better and better by the minute - maybe because I like military fantasy - but I am impressed by the story so far, by the magic system(s) and the characters depth.
I am impressed and I see why this series is so acclaimed!

On chapter 9:
Entertaining so far! Well thought out magic system and a wide variety of different characters. Very hard to put down.

Almost at the end of chapter 14
(view spoiler)[ I am loving the "greater" influence, how to keep in check the cabal, the chef - not a cook - that claims to be a reborn god (Adom). I am loving the difficulty that Tamas has in accepting the concept and how he actually rejects is.
I am so intrigued by Taniel and how broken he is, how he is an addict. And Ka'Poel (if the name is written correctly) and Rozalia! So far, I am in love! (hide spoiler)]

Does it have a particular meaning in Croatian?

It doesn't have a particular meaning but there was a king named Petar Krešimir IV. who ruled the Kingdom of Croatia from 1508. to 1074.
