Sharon Ervin | 1 comments Many Oklahoma towns are named for people. In my mystery series, the town is Bishop, Oklahoma. Truly, the setting is Norman. In WEEKEND WIFE, the town is Twin Rivers. Examples of fictional counties are Bacone and Briar. In 10 published novels, I've had no problem naming towns or counties, though I have stuck with the actual names of cities (like Dallas and Denver) and of states. So far, no repercussions.

In my most recent release, NIGHTINGALE, an historical romance, the duke is from Gull's Way, a keep near Shiller's Green. The heroine is from Welter, a village some distance from his home. All are fictional places hatched in my imagination or borrowed from familiar names.

You're very creative with those names!
