Psionipaths- A Psionipath is a person with the special ability of creating and manipulating force fields.

Beguiler- A Beguiler is an Elf with the special ability to manipulate others through their vocal tones.

Telepath- A Telepath is a kind of elf with the special ability to hear another's thoughts. This ability can be developed with age. It normally develops at about the age of twelve, but Sophie Foster's Telepathy was triggered at age five. A pair of Telepaths, called Cognates can achieve things a single Telepath cannot. A cognate bond requires sharing everything and extreme trust in the other person.

Mesmer- Mesmers are a type of Talented elf. They are able to put people in trances. They are very rare.

Flasher- Flashers can manipulate light to suit their needs. Orem Vacker uses his ability to put on a yearly light show for the Elves during the Celestial Festival while Elwin uses his to be a doctor.

Shades- Shades have the special ability of being able to control darkness with a substance called shadowvapor. This allows them to talk secretly, somewhat like transmitting to another person when their shadows cross. It is called shadow-whispering. A Shade's shadow carries their consciousness so only the receiver can hear the message. Shades can also take a reading of a person's potential for darkness. They can also disguise people so that they are hard (but not impossible) to see. This trick does not work close up.

Hydrokinetic- Hydrokinetics are elves with the ability to control the element of water. Hydrokinetics describe themselves as being drawn to water and find it hard to visit Atlantis until they have full control over their ability. They can draw mist from the air and use it to camoflauge themselves into the surroundings. They are also able to walk on the surface of water by muttering "swishing" words to the element and waving their hands. They are tested for during ability testing at Foxfire.

Vanisher- A Vanisher is an elf with the special ability to let light pass through their bodies. This allows them to turn invisible. Vanishers sometimes do not even realize they blink in and out of sight as they move.

Guster- A Guster is an elf with the special ability to control wind.

Froster- Frosters are a type of elves with the special ability of cryokinetics. This means that they can manipulate ice particles in the air to freeze whatever they want.

Conjurer- A Conjurer is an elf with the special ability to teleport objects to themselves if they know where they are. Edaline keeps her office in disarray because whenever she wants something out of the way she just sends it there. Sophie once had to clean it as a punishment which was quite a task.

Descryer- A Descryer is an elf with the special ability that allows them to be able to sense the potential of others. The only Descryer is Councillor Terik and he describes being the only elf with this special ability a burden. He constantly has parents coming to him asking about their child's potential and even when he tells them what he senses, the children hardly ever live up to what they could be. When Councillor Terik did a reading on Keefe's potential, he found that Keefe had a lot of potential, although, not as much as Sophie.

Phaser- Phasers have the special ability to walk through solid objects such as walls.

Pyrokinetic- Pyrokinesis is the ability to control fire, which is quite rare. It became the only forbidden.

Empath- An Elf with this special ability can sense emotion when in direct physical contact with another.

Technopath- A Technopath is an elf who can understand technology and the functioning of different parts of technology naturally. Technopaths can create and understand gadgets easily.

Polyglot- A Polyglot can speak languages instinctively just from hearing them and can mimic other peoples' voices. Polyglots often have another special ability.

Teleporter- Teleporting is a special ability that Alicorns have while traveling at fast speeds. They can transport to a different place that they are thinking of. Later, Sophie finds out that she can teleport because the Black Swan modeled her DNA on an alicorn's.

Inflictor- Infliction is a special ability that allows the elf with the ability to inflict pain and emotions onto someone else, both positive and negative. This ability has the capability to incapacitate others and is very rare. Because this ability can be dangerous, the Council monitor's Inflictors decides when they are allowed to use this ability. Sophie describes seeing colors in her peripheral vision before she used this ability.

Astrakinetics- The ability to create electrical discharges and lightning bolts, and/or to control the flow of electrons inside machines. Sometimes encompasses the control of magnetic fields, too, if the user wishes to.

Enhancers- Enhancers are elves that have the rare ability to empower others with the touch of their hands. Being around an Enhancer will make those surrounding them more powerful to a very small extent, and most won't even notice the change. The true boost of an Enhancer comes from the touch of their fingertips, where their body stores up energy that is ready to transfer on contact. Enhancers can wear gloves or avoid contact with others to prevent accidental enhancements. Wearing gloves can also give them a few precious seconds to escape from anyone that tries to take unwanted advantage of their ability, though gloves aren't necessary to wear when at home or among friends. The ability itself cannot be turned off - it automatically happens, like how a Polyglot's mind instinctively translates languages. Being an Enhancer won't affect their own abilities, but it strengthens those around them, which can be both an advantage and disadvantage when battling against enemies with friends.

Outward Channeler- Outward Channeling is the ability to destroy any material with the mind. This ability is seen in Lodestar. All elves can do this, even Talentless, so it is practiced along with levitation and others so that the elves are able to better defend themselves from the Neverseen and similar threats. While this is not considered an "manifested ability" like Telepathy, Vanishing, and Conjuring are, it is still something all elves are able to do. Telepaths seem to be able to outward channel better than other elves, because "their minds hold a much larger reserve of energy, which can make it easier to transfer" (Lodestar, page 420). It also may be easier for Hydrokinetics to master this, because Linh is very good at it and says she understands it.

Telekinetic- Telekinesis is when an elf will move or levitate an object with their mind. Every elf (even Talentless) can use Telekinesis because it is not a special ability. However, some elves (like Sophie when she first was learning to use this ability) are not very good at it. It is practiced in PE at Foxfire using a game called Splotching. Telekinesis usually uses core energy as a source of its strength, but highly trained Telepaths can use mental energy to fuel Telekinesis as well. Mental energy is stronger than core energy and can be used for greater amounts of time without exhaustion. Mental energy and core energy do not mix and can result in somewhat explosive results as seen during the Splotching match between Sophie and Fitz, where Fitz using core energy and Sophie using mental energy (in the form of a brain push) in the game sent both of them to Elwin at the Healing Center.

Talentless- A Talentless is an elf without a special ability. They are not seen as part of nobility and are sometimes looked down upon. Often when someone who is Talentless tries to marry someone else that has a Talent they are ruled a bad match.

Other Skills- Not all elves all elves manifest Abilities, and some end up Talentless. However every single elf has skills, which you don't manifest, only improve through Foxfire P.E. or Exillium training. Skills include telekinesis, outward channeling, holding breath for long periods of time, night vision, levitation, and suppressing hunger for a long period of time.

Illusioners- This ability is uncommon. The elf that manifests this ability can create illusions. Whether that's making a new look for them or manipulating their surroundings to make it look like totally different.

Transfigurater- The elf that manifests this ability can change objects into different ones simply with a touch.
Touching a table, while having a picture in their mind what they would like to change the table into, could result in having it transform to a bowl or a desk.
The object that the elf is changing, has to have the same components that the table had. So if the table was made out of wood, the elf needs to know what else he or she can transfigured the object into.
This ability is pretty rare.

Velociter- An elf who can run at super speeds. If an elf hasn't practice with his or her ability, they will not feel a change in their pace of running or walking whatsoever. But after a couple of weeks past since their manifestation, then they will realize they are a Velociter. After a year, they will be able to run at ten miles per hour. And if they practice hard they may even be able to reach at thirty miles by the time year two passes by. This ability is as rare as a Telepath or a Beguiler.

Drainer- The elf that manifests this ability can drain mental energy from other elves, but it drains a bit of physical energy from the owner as well. This ability is extremely rare.
