Leslie | 16369 comments Oh, I hope that you like Tartuffe Pink! It is one of my favorite Moliere plays - I prefer the Richard Wilbur translation so I hope that is the one you get :)

If you want to see it (either while reading or after), here is a link to a performance on YouTube:

Leslie | 16369 comments I think that I might skip making a plan this time -- some stuff has come up here and my reading time in November might be limited. But I do hope to get to our group fiction book Silence.

Pink Leslie, I'll have to look up which translation I have. I am interested in watching it performed too, so thanks for the link. I hope everything is okay and that you find time for our group read next month.

Raul, are you enjoying War and Peace? I'm half way through now and really enjoying it, but I only read it when I can sit and give it my full attention, so it's taking a while to get through.

You have some great choices there.
( I must stick to my reading plan, I must stick to my reading plan...)

Annie (anniecholewa) | 83 comments I'm still waiting for my reading glasses to be repaired by the optician so my reading has slowed right down, but assuming I get them back soon, this is my absolute minimum to read in November ...

Nonfiction
The Wild Life: A Year of Living on Wild Food
Wisdom of the Mythtellers
Six Facets Of Light
and from the to be finished pile, World Enough & Time: On Creativity and Slowing Down
and The Book of Disquiet

Fiction
Between the Acts
The Hummingbird's Daughter

message 12: by Gill (new)

Gill | 5719 comments My aim for November is to finish reading The Book of Disquiet

Also for GR group reads
Silence
The Invention of Nature: Alexander von Humboldt's New World

And
Dance on the Volcano which I've been meaning to read for months
Homegoing

Now I'm going to go back and check my October list to see how many of them I actually read!

message 13: by Katy (new)

Katy | 422 comments I have a copy of the von Humboldt book on my shelf. I saw the author speak and was amazed by the story. I'm interested to see how you like it.

message 14: by Raul (new)

Raul | 745 comments @ Pink; yes, I have had the same problem with the book and I'm afraid at this rate I may go back to postponing the book as I have before so I have decided to read it bit by bit every week, with at least one more book as a buffer until I finish it, starting this coming week.

message 15: by Raul (new)

Raul | 745 comments @ Pink; and Tolstoy's writing is incredible, I loved Anna Karenina and I am enjoying War and Peace too

message 17: by Theresahpir (new)

Theresahpir | 37 comments I actually read all 5 of my 'must read' picks for October! I'm hoping I can do the same with November---here are my top priorities for this month:

To finish out my 2016 BINGO Challenge:
1. Crush: A Girls of Summer Novel
2. Letters on Demonology and Witchcraft

For my Paranormal Nonfiction Challenge:
3. The Presidents and UFOs: A Secret History from FDR to Obama
4. Past Lives of the Rich and Famous
5. Ghosts of Richmond

message 18: by Guy (new)

Guy Austin | 267 comments Finished Hillbilly Elegy. I really liked it. It was a quick read almost a sociology lesson. I feel Ike I learned something new and gain an understanding of a group of people I new little of.

A great memoir with a purpose.

I'm so overwhelmed by the things to do both at work and at home that, as we say in Itally "navigo a vista"!!! meaning I sail only looking for where to stir!!! No plan, no lists!

message 21: by Chrissie (new)

Chrissie There is nothing like a book by David McCullough.

They never disappoint.

message 22: by Guy (new)

Guy Austin | 267 comments Finished Emma tonight. One that I was pushing through for the last three months. Just not my kind of read. Glad I stuck with it and I am sure the Library will appreciate its return after three renewals.

message 25: by Guy (last edited Nov 27, 2016 09:02PM) (new)

Guy Austin | 267 comments I finished more than I thought I would due to being on the road and in hotels many more nights than I thought I would. So many I had started earlier, I finished. Beside my active live book club read and Hidden Figures. The latter I decided to finish in December. There were Three I thought were great. Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis, News of the World, and Silence each I gave 4*s.
