Curious on where those of us in the quiet corner buy our books? Do you shop your local bookstore? Dept Store or utilize your Library and friends? Or do you travel to Barnes and Noble.

Just curious.
If you shop a local bookstore, would you mind telling us the name and location?

I frequent Wonderland Books in Putnam, and highly recommend the store. They order every Tuesday and books are in on Wednesday. {If they don't have what you are looking for in stock}

Occasionally I shop at Target, B&N {My mother in law works there} and Wal-mart. I'm an equal opportunity book buyer :D

In the past I ordered most of my books over the Internet, from Amazon.com, B&N or a specialty bookstore.

More recently, I've been getting into reading electronic books (e-books) on my Apple iPod Touch. It doesn't work for something big, like a textbook, but for fiction, an ereader format (.pdb) file can be read on the iPod Touch using a free Ereader app from the iTunes App store. Because the iPod is pocket-size, I carry it with me everywhere, and I find that I'm getting more reading done because it's so darned handy. So, I guess I'm a convert to electronic books!

Where is Wonderland Books in Putnam? I'd like to check it out.

I buy my books from Wonderland Books in Putnam as well. I also found this coffee shop/bookstore/gift shop in Shrewsbury(?)Mass near homegoods that I like. If all else fails I use amazon for used books.

I buy the majority of my books from the Uconn Co-op in Storrs. They are independent and have a huge selection.

As an avid book lover I was excited to open up my own shop in Columbia, the Book Bar. Unfortunately I had a nightmare landlord and ended up with termites and no septic tank which lead to a raw sewage flood. I would love to hear feedback as to whether I should open another brick and mortar shoppe or continue just online and special orders. One of the things I miss are people getting together for book discussions in the shop. I love to browse and getting lost in the Book Barn for the day myself, but would love something closer.

I like the UConn Co-op very much, but it doesn't have a cozy coffee corner where you'd meet a friend to talk books. For that, I go to the B&N in Manchester. I order most of my books online, though. I think when the Storrs Center development opens and the Co-op has a bookstore there, that might be more of a destination. That's still a year or so away, though.

Wonderland Books just went out of business. St. James School in Danielson has 2 book sales every year and I always go to those and stock up on books. They have literally thousands of books available at every sale. They are all organized by author and categories. Check it out. You won't be disappointed. I also swap books with friends. When I do buy it's usually through amazon because you can buy books very cheap on there.

Douglas Library, in Hebron, has pretty good book sales every so often as well.

I usually end up buying books at amazon.com or b&n, but I'd much rather buy from independent booksellers, specifically a storefront. It's so sad that most independents can't make it, so if you know of others nearby, please share!

There’s a wonderful book store in Warwick Rhode Island named Mary’s Book Store. It’s run by a lady named Tracy. Also the Salvation Army Thrift Store in Brooklyn has a fair amount of books there.
