I know Goodreads is full of readers planning or writing a book.
Are you one of them? :)

I am planning to write not one but three books- one at a time lol. I know I am mad but in a good way. :P

- Book 1 is going to be a fantasy book but ... not as we know it. I am hoping to shatter the stereotypes and convention of the genre. Wow! :P
I am working on the outline right now - on scene 20 of 80.

- Book 2 will be a 'witty' romance/comedy of manners. Classy, funny, sensual and deep! I am going to learn by heart 'The Importance of Being Earnest' by Oscar Wilde before I start writing this one- just half kidding. :D

- Book 3 will be a fable and a riposte to 'The Alchemist' by Paulo Coelho - the worst book I have read for a long, long time. That book needs to be put back in its place. I am going to call the book 'The Alchemist's Daughter' or something like that. :P

I can't believe I have put all of this down on 'paper', and actually clicked on 'post'. At least, it should provide me (other people!?) with a lot of fun.
None of my attempts at writing will be inflicted on the members of this group so not to worry.

Anyone else with delusions of grandeur? :D

That is a great skill! I am not very good with crafts, I must say. That and the art of drawing have passed me by - very strange with the number of artists in the family. Both my girls seem to have inherited the gene though so the family tradition will go on. Alex can sew anything and has taught herself for the past two years (with the help of Youtube!). She is absolutely amazing with fabric!

Yeah, I 'll keep to the pen and paper. Lol. :D

That's brilliant. Don't do what I did. I wrote poetry in my teens and then nothing for 20 years. Lol.
Keep going with it. :)

Aw, thank you so much. You should keep up the creative work too! I look forward to reading your work someday soon :)
And by the way, I have no idea how in the world The Alchemist became such an acclaimed book, it was the worst think I've read in a long period of time ... please, in the name of God, I beg, write that BOOK3 :D

Haaze | 0 comments You guys are literally bursting with enthusiasm! I'm impressed! I have always wanted to write, but somehow I put it off as life aspects take over (higher priority). Perhaps there is a trick to write in short bursts over a longer time period. I guess I am a romantic so I envision the cabin by a lake, the long walks in the woods pondering the story line and long nights typing with the crickets chirping outside the window. LOL One of these years....

Lost Planet Airman | 9 comments I have concluded I don't have the 'knack' for storytelling nor the foresight to out-think the critics, so never have the immediate desire to 'write'. But if I could fast-forward past the plotting-drafting-wordsmithing-beingeditedupon-publishing-marketing event horizon, I would really like to 'have written'!

Holly | 4 comments I've dabbled a bit in writing. Took a creative writing class, and am currently working on a couple of different writing projects.

Hmm, yes, the battle with the critics didn't even cross my mind. Perhaps the way to write is to completely ignore the critics and hope for the best... (<------- True optimist)

Perhaps that is the path? Do you feel like the classes you took enhanced your skill and inspired you or did you have a different kind of experience? In literature classes I sometimes felt as if we dissected the novels into tiny fragment that dissolved in bursts of dust. Creative writing is of course a different process altogether. What kind of stories did you write?

Mark André Unfortunately for me, I've always wanted to write non-fiction. Criticism or commentary; and other than actually doing the writing - I'm much too lazy - I find my biggest dilemma is trying to identify an audience: how much do they know about your particular subject? :-)
