Currently Reading:
It is Sept. 10 and I have not yet bought a book this month. I am about halfway through another borrowed book - 2nd one this month. I have seen so many out there I want but will wait and try to buy used, or Sam's club or borrow. I am sitting on my hands.
I interpreted this thread to mean: a book you bought and actually read shortly after buying, in other words it didn't just go on your shelf to-be-read at some time in the future. Last month I picked up The Time Traveler's Wife for .50 then noticed right afterward that the movie was coming out. So I decided to read it before I would see the movie, but the book was a huge disappointment - for a number of reasons, and I am in good company, which you will see if you look at the reviews.

Thank you Linda, that is what I was aiming for. Good to know I wasn't completely unclear. :-)

My most recent purchases included:
1. Halfway to the Grave - Jeaniene Frost
2. One Foot in the Grave - Jeaniene Frost
3. At Graves End - Jeaniene Frost
4. Destined for an Early Grave - Jeaniene Frost
5. Critical Care - Candace Calvert
6. Rumors: A Luxe Novel - Anna Godbersen
7. Bones to Ashes - Kathy Reichs
8. The Shack - WM. Paul Young
9. Ebay 101: Selling on Ebay for Part-time or Full-time Income, Beginner to Power Seller in 90 days - Steve Weber
I've read the first two Jeaniene Frost novels in the Night Huntress Series. They were extremely fast paced and fun to read. I am currently in the third one. Four have been published and there are seven slated for the series.

The last book I bought and actually read almost immediately was The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. After reading around this group, I see I'm in the right place (and I think my poor husband would also agree).
I bought Sins of Eden on my Kindle. I started reading it right away. I have not been disappointed at all. In fact, it is hard to put down.
The last book I bought and read at basically the same time? Easy call there. It was The Mortal Instruments
. I devoured those books...
Kieli: White Wake on the Sand
Bought it and couldn't drive home fast enough to read it. They didn't have it at the local B&N so I had to drive all the way to Bellevue to get it :(

Just got a good start, so I hope so. I love this group because it has really increased my reading variety...

I loved it too. I'm going to hear the author speak and get her autograph a week from Saturday. :-)

I got to see and get her autograph along with Kim Harrison and Kelley Armstrong, and compared to those pros, she did sound a bit like a rookie but it was still interesting.

Just bought "Heaven's Net Is Wide" by Lian Hearn, and just finished reading "Once a Witch" by Carolyn MacCullough.
The most recent set of books that I bought and read right away (still reading, actually) are the Sweep series by Cate Tiernan. I bought the first three volumes, which have three books in each volume, and I'm in the middle of the third volume right now. I have to wait until June and then November or December for the last two volumes to come out.
Joseph wrote: "For me, it was A Treasury of Animal Stories. An old childhood favorite I had been looking for for years and finally found used on Amazon. How about you?"The newest two books that I have bought were The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and Awakened by P.C. Cast. Not really into a whole lot of new books. I love all books no matter how old. I feel like since I only started reading every day and numerous books when I was 16 that I have missed out on a lot of good old novels. So that's the main reason I don't buy newly released books. Unless they are from Stephen King. Then I can't help myself, even if I don't read it right away.
Susan (Suz) wrote: "Blue Moon,(Anita Blake #8) Laurell K. Hamilton"Stop after Obsidian Butterfly, unless you enjoy smut novels and overly descriptive paragraphs (Narcissus In Chains, the book right after Obsidian Butterfly, spends an entire CHAPTER describing the eyes of one character.) I was REALLY disappointed with the way this series went, I started reading Anita blake when I was in junior high, and I've been graduated from high school almost ten years. The series ended with Obsidian for me :/
I actually just bought White Cat by Holly Black a few days ago at Ollies, a local secondhand retailer (Kind of like Big Lots?) I just finished it. It was mediocre....I gave it three stars. Not sure what to read next, I've only got about ten books left in my TBR pile that I have here at my house...
I agree! Obsidian Butterfly was the last good Anita Blake book, then it went downhill from there. Anita Blake starts boinking more guys than I can keep track of and yet she complains that she's a prude, it gets really obnoxious. However, her fairy princess series is still alright. She's a slut, but at least she admits it and doesn't apologize for it so I kinda just roll with it in her series.
