I have read parts 1-3 and I'm planning on reading part 4 today. Then I'll probably post some comments here :)

Oh, I haven't started yet...STILL so behind! My "resolution" for 2017 on GR is to stay on top of my BR's for once!

Maybe when I retire (this year) I'll be able to do that! LOL

I just started this one a bit late sorry! I've only read part one. Don't have anything to say on it yet since part one is only about 20 pages but I'm already slightly confused!

I ended up finishing this so here are my thoughts.

This story was (view spoiler)[ very captivating. It grabbed me from the very first page and didn't let go. It was also very quick to read. I love the fresh view this book takes on witches with the white and black witches being enemies. Only I'm not sure why the faction of black withes is considered worse. I kind of get it that they're more violent and don't want to blend with humans but still I'm not sure if they're so much worse than white witches. I almost think the white witches are worse...I mean look at how cruel they are! It's very interesting how this book makes one think how relative it is whether something is good or bad. This book was (view spoiler)[ much darker than I expected it to be. I love dark so that was a nice surprise. I feel terrible for Nathan because his life is really a hell! How he's treated by his family and all the other witches really sucks! I mean I like Arran and Deborah and their grandma but Jessica is an awful sister. I think she'll still have a bigger part in Nathan's life in the following books, especially when she's apparently with Clay now. Annalise seems nice and I really hope she won't let Nathan down. Gabriel seems ok, too, but I'm not sure about Mercury. She's probably not bad but not really good either. I think she's trying to use Nathan just like everyone else. Still what makes Nathan's life even more unfair is that he's not really done anything bad. He's only hated and hunted because of his father. (hide spoiler)]

I loved the part (view spoiler)[ when Nathan was held with Celia. Even though he was a prisoner and treated cruelly, I loved how he also learned to enjoy the small routines of his life. I also have a feeling that Celia's not as bad as she looks. I think Nathan realizes that, too. At least he keeps thinking about Celia and the time he spent with her, even after he's escaped. I think he actually respects Celia on some level. (hide spoiler)]

I'm happy (view spoiler)[ Marcus finally came through for Nathan, although I'm not sure he really cares about him. I hope he does, though. I also wonder what happened to Fairborn. I'm sure someone took it but don't know who. In addition, I wonder if Nathan's escape was allowed on purpose in order to track down Marcus or make it possible for Nathan to kill him. (hide spoiler)]

Nathan as a character (view spoiler)[ is great. He's far from perfect but he's strong and keeps on fighting despite all struggles he's facing. Also in spite of his situation, that is far from normal, he goes through all the things regular teenagers go through. He falls in love, struggles with his own identity, breaks rules and wishes to be loved by his parents and accepted by others. (hide spoiler)]

I'm definitely going to continue reading this series. I already read the novella Half lies, which concentrated on Gabriel's time in America. I hope you like this book as much as I did!

I'm on part 5 now so I'll probably end up finishing this one tonight, it's quite a quick read.
