She's definitely an enemy. I'm not exactly sure what I want to do with her. Mainly I just wanted to have her to be a bad influence on everything.

ooh ok maybe she's like in charge of the anti-overlooked forces? or maybe change her profile a bit and she could be the one planning the overlooked angry mob objective?

I think I was planning on making her Paramount since there aren't many characters of that type right now. But perhaps that won't matter since no one else is roleplaying... I suppose she could be the one stuck on Earth running things...

Marika and Carolien are Paramount too, but there can always be more. We do need a character to kind of be leading the Overlooked and planning the overthrow and I was thinking maybe Marika could sort of be leading the Paramount's task force trying to subdue the Overlooked. That said, I haven't hardly got to use her because she doesn't have anyone to RP with so not much has been going on with Paramount's side.

Carolien isn't completely Paramount, though, so unless someone draws her in, she's not outright in favor of them. Especially since her dad is exiled now.

It would be kind of interesting if maybe this new character banished her husband to Earth to hide an affair with another man and then they are fighting each other. Or it's the opposite where she is exiled because of her husband.

Wait!! Maybe I could do something with Carolien's dad! He could be the one leading the overlooked on Earth!!

I think we discussed possibly using Carolien's dad and Peter's mom as sort of a team to help create a way back to the planets? Because the Overlooked want to use his research to help smuggle potentium to the exiled on earth and bring them back, nice and angry and ready to overthrow a government.

And Jun is the naive messenger for the Overlooked, sent to gather those who want to return and are ready to fight the government.

Did we?? I'm not sure. I've been terrible of keeping track of everything! So, you're saying the Overlooked (including Ryo) on the planets want to smuggle potentium to Earth where Carolien's dad knows enough science and research to create a teleportation back home and Peter's mom, who has a trade thingy(? I forgot already!) going on where she helps take in Exiles, sends them to places that would be good, and her past work at a potentium facility can help with building?? (I don't really see her playing a huge role in her past. Like maybe she was part of the harvesting and preliminary building of things, but she wasn't the supervisor or the planner.)

And Jun the naive messenger would work perfect.

Yeah basically:
1. Overlooked are planning to act and they need more man power. Maybe Carolien's father had been studying and working with potentium before he was Exiled and they're like dang, now we don't have access to his research and can't continue his work to bring back our allies.
2. They try to think of alternative options until the info goes through the grapevine, reaching Ryo's dad who realizes his son could marry the soft-spoken daughter of their exiled comrade and get the research so they can figure out a way to continue it.
3. Once Ryo gets the research, the Overlooked are like great, this could work, but we need to get potentium to earth and we need someone to build this thing down there so everyone can get back. Maybe they can find the dude who researched this stuff in the first place to help. By now, they must've formed some sort of network or community right?
4. They need a volunteer to get down to earth and risk the journey. Here's this adaptable, naive boy who's willing to help our cause. Let him do it. It won't be hard for him to get caught since anyone associated with the Overlooked is automatically exiled.
5. Jun gets to earth, meets up with peter and his gang, gets connected to the network of Exiled and finds Carolien's old man. He lets everyone in on the plan. Anyone who wants to come back is encouraged to fight for the resistance because Jun is naive and thinks all the Exiled are just misunderstood and want to find better lives back on their home planet.
6. Peter's mom is on the fence because sending a bunch of people back for a rebellion just doesn't seem like the most logical thing to do. Maybe Carolien's dad is friends or acquaintances with her and his health is fading so he needs her experience with potentium to help him design and craft the device.
7. Peter convinces mom to help because he sympathizes with Jun's cause and the plight that the Exiled face by coming to Earth. Maybe he's hopeful that they can find a way to comfortably go between planets so that he doesn't have to worry about his mom leaving and never coming back?

Sounds like a pretty good run-down to me. Thanks! I suppose Carolien's dad could have researched not only how to bring people back, but he could have been the one to work on the teleporters that work in between worlds. I suppose the only issue is that once he gets stuck on earth, potentium isn't present and so he's been search for alternate ways to build a teleporter, but perhaps all they have managed is sporadic communication (maybe when someone is exiled, the link that is used can be hijacked for a few moments to send messages?)

I would think that if he could reach them, then they would be able to reach him too. It's not like he's the only scientist/engineer working with them. That would be a super small resistance I would think.

It can be brief, but I mean what is the point of the communication if the scientist dude doesn't even know he is reaching them or who he is broadcasting to?

Plus if the Overlooked knew that one of their own was taken, then they could be on the lookout for when to expect to receive a message. Maybe there's a time window of like 15 minutes from the start of the blackout for how long the connection can last and they can discuss things very briefly to stay caught up on important things like "hey we want to bring you exiled folks back. Start rounding up the gang." or "we're sending a kid with potentium in his stomach. get a surgeon and try to send him back"

Well, I think the only reason why I'd think there'd be complications are because of the blackouts, but also because I don't know how good technology on Earth is to see if it can reach the other planets successfully. That's why I was wondering if the teleportation and inter-planetary dealings were all done through potentium devices 'cause then no matter how great of a scientist he is, if he doesn't have good quality materials to compensate for the lack of potentium, then I assume that is how their communication might not work very well. Perhaps they receive transmissions more easily than sending them.

I would think that interplanetary transportation would totally require potentium... but maybe not communication? Like earth has been sending signals out into space for a while, so it's definitely possible to send stuff out maybe and not require potentium... so maybe the mainland overlooked are able to contact the exiled on earth and alert them to start gathering? and kind of set things in motion they just need a smuggler to actually get the potentium down there for transporting people back?

I suppose my issue is that if it's so easy for this communication, then what has stopped Earth from discovering the other planets on their own? It can be so easy to catch a stray signal from the other planets, even more so since people on Earth are obsessed for looking for signs of life outside themselves. Unless perhaps there's some kind of barrier that makes it a radio-silent state between the other planets and Earth and the Overlooked and Exiled would have to "hack" the communication between them.

I’m excited to make Tasha and Lei! I would probably do more people but I think the plot can only handle so many characters and it would take a while to get them made too >.<

Tasha and Lei? For the Elysia group? Lei's the soldier, but who's Tasha? I feel like making more characters in that group too, but I think the plot is important to get going first so I understand why it's better to wait. But I want to do something more exciting with my priest and I don't know what!

Part of this started with thinking of the character for the apothecary and I thought of my past character I've had who worked in one. But I was curious to look at old characters to see if I can reuse a picture or something and I found a lot of characters I started and never finished, or I finished but the rp didn't go off, and I just felt nostalgic looking at these characters. I just suddenly feel an itch to do more with them but I can't do anything since all my groups are dead! Except Elysia.

Tasha is going to be the barmaid. She is probably going to be like Darcy's younger sister, but with a lot more sass and no blood relation.

Ah, I see. Sounds fun. :D I was thinking my apothecary lady will have a sibling and I was debating making a young character or not. I've tried making characters that are really young like 5-9, but usually it doesn't turn out well.

I'm always up to rp more. Any genre in mind? Or plots? I haven't had any good story ideas that are good for rps in a while.

Tasha is gonna be like 18. Old enough to be flirty and drum up business, but young enough that she's got more she is working towards in the future and still with a bit or naivety.

Hm, well I have a few ideas. I'll type out a few.

Yeah. I noticed a lot of the characters were on the younger side in the teens or early twenties with a few older. Maybe that's typical, but a lot of the people in that group are way younger than me. ^^;

A 12-year old? That's too bad. I had this 8 year old boy who basically become adopted by a vampire and it was all cute but the rp barely got off the ground and the group died. *sigh*

I have a ton of characters from a variety of genres. Most of them are fantasy though. But I can always change things around.

Fantasy-ish prompt

A father and son are out fishing one day when the son reels in what he thinks is a seal, but turns out to be a Selkie. The son cuts her loose, thinking that would just be the end of a really odd daydream, but a week later, he wakes up to a fish being shoved in his face. Selkie and the man become friends. He shows her how the human world works and how to function there and she shows him that there are more fantastical creatures in the world than just her. One night, they are out in the human world, drinking, and realize the next morning that they lost her seal skin. The selkie can't return to the sea without it, so they go and try to hunt it down.

20s mobster prompt
It's the Irish Mob vs. the Italian Mafia, two groups walking the tightrope of power balance. Spirits and mediums have a place here as well and it may be the only hope the cops have to bring down major players on either side. A showgirl spying for the mob gets in trouble when she get's caught overhearing plans of a mafia spy. She tries running, but is inevitably caught, only to be rescued in time by a cop who was tipped off by a medium. Once the showgirl realizes that her boss knew and did nothing to save her, the embittered showgirl decides to help the cop take down the mob.

Steampunk/sci-fi-ish prompt

It starts when the prince goes on a trip to confront air pirates stealing trade goods and money. The king is murdered, so the queen takes control, but a sorcerer is secretly manipulating the princess of the realm, corrupting her to fulfill his wishes of anarchy and the fall or royal power. On his trip, the prince is kidnapped by the air pirates with the hope of collecting a handsome ransom, but the prince keeps trying to escape only to fail. The perspective changes when the sorcerer corrupts the princess to the point where she takes control of the kingdom and casts a spell over the army to become mindless dolls of destruction at her disposal. At some point, the prince escapes and tries to return to the castle but is nearly killed by the enchanted soldiers. Realizing that something has gone horribly wrong and that the kingdom is turning to chaos, he enlists the help or the pirates to stop his sister and save the kingdom.

Oooh, all of these sound great. I have a soft spot for steampunk, but the mobster one sounds great too. I think I actually had a few characters that were mobsters that I never got to use.

mine was in a rp where people with powers were sought out by the government to develop their skills and carry out special missions. My 12 year old was a girl with healing powers depending on her mood. She was a little ball of sunshine and contrasted this other character of a similar age who was vacant of expression and emotion.

Ah, I was in a superpower/superhero rp with a character who was all angsty that I was thinking of making an anti-hero but it never worked out.

I'm totally down for pirates/gypsies. I love those kinds too. Have you heard of Heir Apparent by Vivian Van Velde? When I think of Sword Art Online, I think of that book. In some ways I like the book a lot more and I've always thought it'd be fun.

I would love to do a Tron/cyberpunk rp but I wouldn't even know where to begin. Or even something like Psycho-Pass would be cool.

I liked the concept of SAO, but I thought the execution was terrible. I disliked the main characters, there were a lot of aspects of the plot that didn't make sense, the creepy antagonist that only appeared like once or twice. I didn't like the show, but the concept/idea of exploring characters through both their real life personality and how they choose to represent or explore different qualities of themself in a virtual reality really interested me. That book sounds awesome! How did you feel about the writing style? I may have to check it out :)

I totally feel the same. I was so disappointed and at times it felt rushed with the romance and then it was as if there wasn't romance at all. But I like the concept too.

It's been a while since I read Heir Apparent, it's a YA book, but I liked it plus it was humorous at times.

Ah, yeah, definitely have narrow things down. Unless we can combine things somehow like a cyberpunk fantasy with the selkie one or the pirates and gypsy feel can be more pronounced in the steampunk one.

I think the steampunk and pirates one could probably be more easily meshed since there are already technically pirates in that one :)
