I was disappointed by this book. I didn’t really like the main character, he seemed very pompous. Throughout the book I waited for something more interesting to happen - but it didn’t!
I have read only one book by this author, When We Were Orphans, and thought it was okay, but I have no desire to read more booka by him.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this book, Trisha. I see I'm not alone.

It seemed quite nondescript, which surprised me as it’s on the Guardian list & I think was also made into a film. I haven’t read anything else by the author & probably won’t bother.
(Are we the only ones left in this group now?)
I think we are the only active ones, for now. I know some of our members have had less time to read last year.
But I do enjoy keeping track of my books here, and reading your comments, Trisha.

I agree, Rosemarie. This group was one of those that influenced me to read a wide variety of books that I hadn’t tried before. I always appreciate your comments & advice.
