There are some I like and some I don't like. I don't like the fact that they cast Jamie Campell Bower as Jace (no offense to him but he Jamie looked like a malnurished version of Jace), and Lily Collins as Clary (I just didn't see her as Clary at all). I absolutely loved Hodge, he was my favorite out of all the cast. Lena was okay as Jocelyn, even though I love her (especially in Game of Thrones). Robbie as Simon was great. Aiden Turner as Luke was also okay. (I love him too, Aiden I mean) But I didn't like the movie at all. Again, I have nothing against the people, I just didn't see the characters in them. Now, when I read TMI I picture Jamie Campell Bower as Jace, and I don't like that. I like my image of Jace better.

I also didn't like how Clary looked more attention-demanding than Isabelle. Izzy is supposed to be the tall, hot, attention-seeking girl, but she was very plain and boring in the movie!
I think they strayed too far in the films from the books which is why they didn't work as the characters were completely off for me in personality. They appealed to the wrong audience age trying to attract teens where I think maybe a lot of readers were slightly older... Early 20s + ?? (I'm 29). I am recently very new to Cassandra Clare and TMI & TID and think I watched the film after only reading the first book so I didn't mind the cast as I had faces to picture all through the books. I do hope they get Sebastian right in city of glass though, I already have Connor McClain stuck in my head now. My favourite castings from COB were simon and Luke. They just really seemed to fit the picture in my head.
I think they should re cast have and Isabelle if they go ahead with the next movie. Clary was OK but not exactly what I pictured. they need to get Sebastian right though. I'm really keen for another movie but I'm glad that they are making changes from how the first movie was done.
I think the characters would have worked better in the film if they'd actually stuck more to the storyline in the book and had a director who specialises in fantasy action books. It's fine to have a director who deals with bringing the characters to life if he actually gets them right in the first place. I wish Cassie could have had more input to tell them to stick to the storyline and character types.
Heard that Harold (CoB director) isn't attached to the mortal instruments anymore. this either means that there's not going to be a sequel or that they're still working out the kinks for CoA. I personally hope that CoA gets green lit. But only if they put effort into planning it out. Rushed movies like CoB is just a waste of time and money.
I liked Lily Collins as Clary but Jamie as Jace was absolutely horrible.Jocelyn and Luke were pretty good. Alec and Simon are perfect but Isabelle looks older than everyone else which made it awkward. The movie didn't follow the books properly at all in my opinion and its dissapointing for the fans of the series. City of Ashes better be awesome.
I wanted this series to be a TV show, there's too much information that was lost or twisted in the movie. I feel like this series would do better as a show, because then we could get actors that are more true to the character descriptions, and more accurate information.
