Ally Dusanek | 8 comments I am reading The Program by, Suzanne Young and she started the book off very shockingly. It starts off to what you would think would be an ordinary day at a school. A classroom of students are taking a test, but then two men come in and brutally attempt to take a girl (Kendra) out of class. She is screaming and kicking not wanting to go with them yelling, "I'm not sick!" I have not got far enough into the book to understand what sick they are talking about, but Kendra definitely claims not to be. She fights the two men so hard; she kept going even after one of the men punched her in the face and bursted her lip open, dripping blood everywhere.
The narrator tries to ignore the incident, because she knows the girl and it makes her nervous, but then Kendra screams out her name, Salone on page seven. The two men fighting her look up, but then go back to trying to get her out of the room. This makes the narrator even more nervous and scared. The two men eventually get Kendra out of the room taking a small portion of relief on the narrator. Everyone who is "sick", is getting taken away and I suspect bad things happen to them once they leave, since every person is reluctant to go.

Sounds like an interesting start to this work. Caught my attention.

This book actually started out the same way as mine did; kids in school when they are suddenly attacked. This sounds like an interesting book, it sort of reminds me of Unwind. Maybe they are using the kids for something? Maybe an army or maybe the kids know too much about something they aren't supposed to know about.

Devin Hampton | 12 comments I am reading the prequel to this book since this series is my favorite, but this scene really starts to show how scared the kids are of the program and it only gets worse. It was a great opening scene when I read it and it obviously kept my attention all the way through since I am now reading the third book. I can say it only gets better!

Katie Bean | 12 comments By your description it sounds like the author has a lot of vivid language to get good visuals. This book sounds very suspenseful.
