The Hiding Place by Carrie Ten Boom - this is an older book, but one I personally have never read

The Christmas Angel Project by Melody Carlson https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
Girl at the End of the World: My Escape from Fundamentalism in Search of Faith with a Future by Elizabeth Esther

I haven't read these, but they are on my evergrowing TBR List.
I read almost everything so I'll read whatever you choose. One of the podcasts I listen to is two Catholic friends who discuss secular books and find Christian truths in them or the lack thereof. I find it interesting so all that to say I am up for "secular" books as well as "Christian" books.
I went through the suggested books and my top choice is The Prodigal. That seems like a great book. My second choice is The Hiding Place. I don't know if I can handle Plain Truth. I don't like stories where it's focused from a death, let alone a death of a newborn. I read through the bits shared from the book and I could barely breath and my heart just ached. I don't think I can emotionally handle that.
And just to add, if everyone wants to read The Hiding Place, then you should do it. I will just sit that one out. You all should read it though if you want to.
Thank you Aunty Darlene. I like your excitement and enthusiasm. Ok ladies it's the moment you all have been waiting for. The next book we will be reading is.... *drum roll*.... THE PRODIGAL! I will come up with a reading plan and let you all know the schedule.
Good morning ladies! I'm sorry the schedule has taken me so long. It was a super busy week that led into a super busy weekend. It was my nieces first birthday party this passed Saturday, so the week was filled with cleaning and preparing. THEN I ended up getting a really bad cough and lost my voice. It's just been crazy. So I am FINALLY making the schedule right now as we speak and will have it up momentarily. Thank you all for your patience!
I want to join on the next, book, they don't have this one in my library and can't buy it right now. I look forward to it joining
hello :) am eager to learn more of how this group "works" ~ i've never been in a reading group before so please "educate" me on how this is done. i see that you have a book listed "the prodigal" is this the one written by beverly lewis? is so i do have that & have read it. good book by the way :) any way thanks for letting me join & providing more information of how the group works :) :) :)
Hi Janet -The book we are reading is The Prodigal: A Ragamuffin Story by Brennan Manning.
Britnie has posted a schedule which will include several chapters a week to read and she will post a question or sometimes more on each chapter. It's kind of free flowing, depending on how the conversation is going. This is only our second book so I think we are all just adjusting to figure out what works best for everyone.
We are only on the first week so there are 3 discussion questions up which people have commented on. Please feel free to join us and not worry about being behind. Although we attempt to stay on schedule, it is certainly not militant and people post when they are ready. It's all about encouraging each other and finding those nuggets of truth to share while we indulge in books.
Here is the schedule/note from Britnie:
Monday 1/16/17 - Sunday 1/22/17
Chapters 1 - 5
Monday 1/23/17 - Sunday 1/29/17
Chapters 6-10
Monday 1/30/17 - Sunday 2/5/17
Chapters 11-15
Monday 2/6/17 - Sunday 2/12/17
Chapters 16-20
Discussion questions will be asked randomly throughout the week. I usually try to do one question per chapter. As I have said before, feel free to ask your own questions that you come up with. Let me know if you have any questions.
Again, we would love to have you join us. We are definitely a more the merrier type group.
Darlene

We have finished our first book! In my opinion it was a fantastic first book too. We are taking a break for the month of December, but will be back to it in January.
I want some suggestions for our next book. If someone makes a suggestion, and you like it, feel free to say so! Or go ahead and make a suggestion of your own. If your book doesn't get picked for the next book, it doesn't mean we won't read it. We just won't read it yet.
Can't wait to see what books you ladies suggest and want to read.
